Meet Lakeba Wallace of Living Day By Day

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lakeba Wallace.

Hi Lakeba, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The diagnosis of Stage III Breast Cancer has positioned me to become a Magazine Editor, Content Creator and Media Correspondent. It was difficult walking through the diagnosis and treatment plan for breast cancer. Having Stage III Breast Cancer was a huge challenge and change in my life and in my family life as well. Not being able to work due to the side effects of cancer was financially humiliating, embarrassing, and very stressful but I had to keep fighting.

Enduring a battle of cancer was extremely tough but the battle of chemotherapy, radiation and surgery was extremely overwhelming. There were several days that I didn’t even feel like I was going to make it but somehow God gave me the strength to overcome my current situation.

While overcoming the battle of breast cancer, I began to pursue my license as a Realtor, volunteer for the American Cancer Society and speak to millions around the world through media about breast cancer awareness. I never sought out to be in the field of media, the field of media just dropped in my lap.

As I shared my story of dealing with and overcoming breast cancer, random organizations/people would reach out to me to speak about breast cancer awareness. I had no idea that sharing my story would lead me to becoming a Magazine Editor, Content Creator and a Media Correspondent for Living Day By Day.

As a Magazine Editor, Content Creator and a Media Correspondent for Living Day By Day, it has been very rewarding and exciting to have an opportunity to cover multiple red-carpet events, interview celebrities, travel, produce the Living Day By Day show and edit/produce the Living Day By Day Magazine.

As my media career continues to evolve, I have also tapped into the film industry as a background actress, Production Assistant, 2nd Camera Assistant, Slate and a Film Line Producer. I still have a long way to go media-wise, but my testimony coupled with my media/film career has given me the opportunity to live a life of peace, joy and liberty.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest obstacle/challenge is networking. I have reached out to network with a countless number of organizations and celebrities who just never respond or support my work. I know I can’t reach everyone and will not have support from everyone, but we all have to learn how to support each other more. I’m glad that I have a mindset of the importance of supporting organizations and people near and far.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I absolutely love ATL. Atlanta is a place for media, film and entertainment. My media career is growing due to the media business and opportunities in the Atlanta area.

I don’t like the cold weather. I am from Florida. Just give me some sun, a boat, and some water… I’m good. Well, that’s not happening in Atlanta at least not as much in Florida.
