Today we’d like to introduce you to Lamanda Dhirar.
Lamanda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was at a point as a stylist where I had not been successful in finding a positive, high energy salon work environment. I had toyed with the idea of opening my own salon in the past, and 5 years ago I knew it was finally time. I was confident that I could make our salon upbeat, friendly, and welcoming, and I set out to create that vision. I picked the location on Wade Green Road in Kennesaw because it was easily accessible, even for people coming from out of town. Clients can stop in for their appointment on their commute home from work as it is located directly off the interstate. After we chose this spot, we built the space from the bottom up and turned it into our salon. This month, October 2017, we have been celebrating our 5 year anniversary. In the last five years, we have grown tremendously in our professionalism and have pushed to stay current in the latest hair trends. Not only that, but we’ve grown alongside and with our clientele.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Like anything, growing with our salon has been a roller coaster of an adventure. Nothing worth having comes easily, and that has certainly been our experience in the last five years. We have had incredible moments, and naturally, we have also dealt with an assortment of obstacles. The low points have pushed us to be innovative, perseverant, and appreciative. Through dealing with hard times, we’ve developed a deep feeling of gratitude for our clients, coworkers, and career that we would not otherwise have. For example, finding and growing a salon team of stylists and front desk staff can be difficult at times. Creating a cohesive group that meshes but also displays creative diversity and professionalism is no easy task. As with all aspects of our salon, we want to offer the highest quality staff to our guests, and bringing people into our team is not something we take lightly. With that being said, it can certainly be challenging to find these individuals to fit seamlessly into our salon. Fortunately, we have 5 incredible Master Stylists who all bring something unique to our guests. I am proud of the group of women I get to work beside each and every day. Since we opened in 2012, our salon has changed and improved drastically, and our stylists have been there every step of the way.
Please tell us about Prestige Salon.
At Prestige, we focus heavily on creating a salon environment that is guest-centric. We want our guests to feel welcomed and comfortable in our salon. In addition to building a personal relationship with them, we strive to educate our guests and help them to be knowledgeable about their hair. In our salon, we offer a wide variety of services for both male and female guests. Those services include haircuts, color, balayage, highlights, eyebrow tinting and waxes, lash extensions and more. We use ammonia free color, which is healthier for both our guests and stylists, and saves us all from the unpleasant chemical smell you often run into with salons. The main product lines we utilize are Pureology, Redken, L’Oreal Professional, and Matrix. We are passionate about helping our clients find the perfect product choices for their hair, and we offer something for everyone. When we have a client in our chair, we are sure to show them what techniques and products will help them to maintain and recreate the look at home that we have given them in salon. We take pride in your look, and we want you to be able to take pride in your hairstyle each and every day. The guests’ experience, inside and out of the salon, is our highest priority.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Kennesaw is booming in so many aspects. Businesses are moving here and establishing themselves every day. We love our location as it is centrally located, easy to get to, and not too far from Atlanta. Since Kennesaw is a college town, we have a hugely diverse clientele. Our clients range in age from 1-93 years in age, but college aged students are a huge point of business for us as they would be for any entrepreneurs who choose to open a location here. As the college expands, so do the population and appeal of the city of Kennesaw. I highly recommend the area to people in any industry! We have had a wonderful experience with the community in Kennesaw and truly love the area and people here.
