Today we’d like to introduce you to Lamont Scales.
Lamont, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology and master’s degree in Professional Community Counseling. I’ve been working and providing counseling services in the LGBTQ community since 2004, so I have the education and experience to help singles and couples achieve their relationship goals.
Better Way to Meet was founded by two friends who have experienced the frustrations associated with dating and meeting quality men in the gay community. We designed Better Way to Meet to be just that…. a better way to meet other single men without the issues associated with the more common methods (i.e. mobile apps, online, bars, clubs, etc.) used by our community.
We also expanded the business by offering dating coaching and relationship counseling for singles and couples across the United States.
We meet with our clients in-person or via a video conference so that we can really get to know each client’s story. This helps us to personalize the matchmaking, dating coaching, and relationship counseling experience.
Oh, and we also host speed dating and interactive events for singles each month.
Has it been a smooth road?
Even though Better Way to Meet has matched hundreds of single men, it hasn’t been an easy task. How do you help men ‘unlearn’ poor dating habits, especially if they think they are doing things the right way? Sometimes men are stuck in their old ways and don’t want to change, so our dating coaching specialist have to shine the light on what men are doing wrong and show them a new way of dating.
We don’t shame our clients, because we know most men have not been taught how to date another man. Most gay men didn’t grow up with examples of two men can being in a relationship….Gay porn and Brokeback Mountain doesn’t count! It continues to be a great experience helping guys learn how to date.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Better Way to Meet story. Tell us more about the business.
Better Way to Meet specializing in matching single gay and bisexual men with other men. We interview men, match them based on their preferences, give dating advice, and arrange interactive dates for our clients.
We know that dating and being in a relationship can be difficult, so we also provide dating coaching and relationship counseling for singles and couples. These sessions can be done in-person or via a video conference for singles anywhere in the United States.
Given Better Way to Meet is the only company that provides these types of services for gay men, we are especially proud that we can provide much needed services for our community. Couples have been able to strengthen their relationships and singles have been able find their mister right as a result of Better Way to Meet.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Better Way to Meet hopes to expand the matchmaking services to other cities, while offering group sessions and workshops for singles and couples across the country.
