Today we’d like to introduce you to Larry Buckley.
Larry, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my business during my sophomore year at Georgia State. I can’t even say I’ve always been interested in fashion or becoming a designer but it just felt right at the time. I grew up around basketball my whole life but it was time for me to find a new lane for my life. After about a year, I began to see real growth and gain buzz throughout the city and also was being noticed by celebrities. This is the point where I feel like I really tapped into my potential and began to take my brand seriously. I am currently in year two and I can’t wait to show people how much more my team and I have in store.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This hasn’t at all been a smooth road. A lot of times, I’ve been both very up and down mentally and financially. There are so many big decisions that I’ve had to make alone and also so much money I’ve had to put aside and initially invest into myself instead of buying things I would like to have right now.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Deadly Luv Clothing Company – what should we know?
I both operate the business side of my brand as well as design the clothing that is released to everyone. I feel like I’m known for my “LUV” hoodies. I am proud of building my brand to such a point in so little time to the point where people now ask me for advice and gain inspiration from the stuff that I’m doing. I feel like what sets me apart is how hard I work and how much I want to be the best at anything I do in life. I grew up very competitive and always wanting to be the leader who leads my team to a win in terms of playing sports and that mindset will stick with me forever.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I never stop working and always keep myself busy.
