Today we’d like to introduce you to Larry Taylor.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I worked in a nursery, as a teenager, in South Georgia, in the mid-sixties. After serving 3 years in the military, I relocated to Atlanta, taking a job with a large corporation.
Working at a nursery, in my younger years, instilled in me the desire to be outdoors and work with plants. I started doing landscaping on my off days, but my desire was to have my own nursery.
We purchased our present home in 1976 and started Accent Nursery & Landscaping in our back yard. I, with my wife Angela, and children, Mark, Tammy and Randy spent most of our time growing our business from scratch. We started new plants from cuttings, potting plants, fertilizing, watering and all the other chores that go with operating a nursery. As a result of our hard work and dedication and our loyal customers, over the past 40 plus years, we have built a business that our family is very proud of.
Has it been a smooth road?
No vacations, at first. No after school activities for the kids. Being tied down to the business.
So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Accent Nursery & Landscaping story. Tell us more about the business.
We are a family owned nursery and landscape business.
We grow a variety of plants, as well as purchasing for resell.
We service both wholesale and retail markets.
We are dedicated to customers’ satisfaction. Our goal is to make them happy with their trip to Accent Nursery.
The relationship we have with our customers, sets us apart from other businesses. Each of our customers are greeted with a smile, upon their arrival and a ‘Thank You’, when they are leaving.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
