LaShanda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Back in 2009, I started my HR career as an intern within the recruitment department of a very large healthcare company. As soon as friends and family members became aware that I had secured an HR role, everyone wanted help finding a job or getting their resume reviewed. Around 2014, I wanted to grow my career, I spent quite some time researching resume trends and interview tips while becoming immersed in reviewing articles and reports that contributed to building a solid foundation to my recruitment and resume knowledge today. This personal experience strengthened my passion to help others. Before launching, New Heights Career Services, I went on my social media pages and offered free resume services. The overwhelming testimonials and positive outcomes motivated me to expand my brand and led me to where we are today.
Has it been a smooth road?
The same person that hired me for my internship in 2009 is also a resume writer. This mentor took the time to speak with me about the business, resume tips, and additional helpful advice, and we frequently exchange ideas. New Heights Career Services is driven by passion. My passion drives me to seek out new and innovative ideas to overcome any obstacles.
Getting to this point in my professional career has definitely been a challenge. I remember being on a huge emotional roller-coaster when I was looking for a new job around 2014. I remember interviewing for over a year! Those negative feelings and anxious emotions associated with job hunting radiates through me as I help each client today.
