Meet Latasha Bethea of Eminence Image Events in East Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Latasha Bethea.

Latasha, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born in Houston, TX and moved to Atlanta when I was very young. I was raised by my grandparents and they were my motivation to push forward with my dreams. I dropped out of school in 11th grade due to family circumstances but my grandmother got me back on track and I graduated on time.

I went to college in NC, where in my sophomore year, I got pregnant with my daughter. She is a phenomenal girl who loves dancing and dances in her high school band with aspirations of attending Jackson State University and becoming a Dermatologist. She has been my driving force to become an entrepreneur. She is in so many extracurricular activities that being a single parent, I didn’t want to miss anything. I found something I loved and tapped into my creative side when I started working with children and opened my childcare facility as well as my nonprofit. I now own my own nonprofit to help troubled youth as well as an events company that provides catering, mobile bartending, and photo booth rental.

Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Growing up, my parents weren’t able to raise me so my grandparents stepped in. They were awesome but this caused a lot of issues in my life. I also became a mother at 19 after dropping out of high school in 11th grade. I finished high school on time but delayed my graduation from college with the birth of my daughter. I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and my Master’s Degree in Counseling to help children who were struggling with their parents having addictions.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Eminence Image Events – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the eclectic energy of the city. I don’t like the bad wrap we get for being true to the black community.
