Today we’d like to introduce you to LaTisha Styles.

Hi LaTisha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am where I am today – a self-employed marketing consultant – because I am a stubborn believer in manifestation. After graduating from college during the Great Recession, I spent 11 months looking for a job before I was finally hired. During that time, I told myself that if I couldn’t find a job, I would create my own. That led me to start a personal finance blog to share what I had learned in college as well as my own personal experience. After getting hired at a local investment consulting firm, I continued writing my blog. I loved creating content, making people laugh with my quirky YouTube videos, and learning all about digital marketing.

A few years into working in the corporate world, I decided to quit and take my blog full time. I quit my job on Friday the 13th with excitement and hope. But this is where things slowly fell apart. Even though I had saved six months worth of expenses, it wasn’t enough. The blog income was based on affiliate marketing. Just a few months into being a solopreneur, one of the affiliate programs, which contributed a large chunk of income, closed its doors. After scrambling to make things work, I reluctantly went back to a full-time job. But I knew that I could “create my own” job, just as I had told myself before. Three months after starting that job, I took the leap and quit again. I told myself this time, it would be for good. And it was. I’ve been self-employed for five years and counting. That is why I say that I am a stubborn believer in manifestation. I spoke my desire and created just that. Today I am the founder of YouveGotClients.com where we help coaches create and fill their coaching programs with high-quality clients. I am an Online Marketing Certified Professional and passionate about helping my clients use the most effective marketing strategies to attract perfect-fit clients.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely was not easy to create a business that generates a full-time income for myself as well as support a team. Along the way, I struggled to figure out my ideal client and how I could best serve them. I spent thousands on coaches, courses, and mentors so I could gain the education I needed to reach my goals faster. When I ran through my savings, I borrowed money so I wouldn’t have to go back to a full-time job. I worked anywhere from 6 to 7 days a week, often late at night so I could “make it.” When I say I was determined to do whatever it takes, I meant it. The biggest challenge was feeling like everyone else was succeeding but me. I felt like they knew something I didn’t. That is why I invested in coaches along the way. And while that made the journey easier because I had a guide, it was hard to look at those bank statements and see the dropping balance (or in the case of my credit cards, the increasing balance). I knew those investments would pay off, but I just did not know when. That was most difficult.

What’s next?
Over the next 12 months, I plan to expand and add to my team. We already have a copywriter, video editor, social media manager, and client success assistant on the team. As we continue to reach more clients, we will continue to grow. I am very proud that I am able not only to support myself but a team as well.
