Today we’d like to introduce you to Latisha Watts.
Hi Latisha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am a dancer, MUA and entrepernuer . Dancing has inspired me for life since I was seven I grew up watching my fav singer /entertainer Beyonce. I was under the age of ten watching her on the tv screen everyday …I would be in my room writing songs that my mom also helped me write and which I still have them today (But Singing wasn’t my passion Dance was) I have a big family five sisters and five brothers and with me being the youngest of 10 siblings was tough lol we all have different passions and mines was literally being a professional dancer /choreographer. I was a part of a few talent shows and a dance team (Atlanta Bomb Squad) which is how it all kinda started… I was a first-place winner in the Atlanta All-Stars Talent show back in 2012 and a 3rd place winner second round. Around 2014 is when I started heels choreography which is basically burlesque in dance heels encouraging women to bring it their inner sexy. I’ve trained and trained to be the best I’m still not where I want to be yet but I’m definitely getting there, I started my brand (HEELAPPEAL) which was classes offered burlesque in heels …I taught for a couple of months and stopped to continue training with professionals because I felt I didn’t compare to other professional dance instructors. It was rough it was days I wanted to give up on dance, quit, etc. but I had people in my life to motivate me so I tried to stay focused and remain humble.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes, I felt I didn’t compare to other professional dance instructors and looking at their accomplishments and opportunities and wondering will I have the same. There were days I wanted to give up on dance, quit, etc. I felt anxiety but I had people in my life to motivate me so I tried to stay focused.
