Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Wilson.
Hi Laura, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am partially trained through a traditional florist and partially self-taught. But I have an eye for masculine texture with a feminine softness that balances it. It’s a unique combination of materials that speaks to people and I am thankful that so many still gravitate to it!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My business has had to weather a couple of moves to different areas, a pandemic, product/labor shortages and massive price fluctuations. Yet it still seems to thrive in a tough market. I’m thankful that at this point in my career I know the worth of my art and stand behind it. We do design that is unique for years to come.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a wedding and event floral designer. I love the unique and the interesting and turning it into something romantic and creative. The Boho style has been a staple of mine for the past few years. I love to stay on top of a trend and I like to think that I evolve with it. What sets me apart, I think is being able to see beauty in things others may not see.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
The people closest to me and being able to be there for them. Being able to do what I love and being really good at it. I wish I had a more introspective thing to say about this but I am in a new phase of life that has me reevaluating most everything at the moment!
