Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauryn Cabarrus.
Hi Lauryn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started coaching gymnastics at the age of 13 under my coaches I had when I was little. coaches under them was truly inspiring, and ever since then, I wanted to own my very own gym when I got older. I coached for them until I went away for college and ended up finding a gym in Atlanta, GA. I coached there for about three years. When covid came, they laid off workers and I was one of those workers. I decided this is my time to shine and build something of my own. I started a mobile gymnastics company called LSC Gymnastics and Tumbling. I bought a trailer, equipment and traveled all across Georgia to residences, parks, etc coaching kids gymnastics/tumbling. My business grew faster than expected and I had a waitlist. After a year, covid numbers decreased and everyone started to slowly head back into gyms, etc. I lost business due to the fact that kids wanted to be back in a gym. I took a leap of faith, a risk, and opened up a brick and mortar of my own in Avondale Estates. Business has been amazing and I have reached a goal I set for a year in less than six months. I am now looking to get out of my two years lease and get into a bigger gym by June!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t. I struggled with equipment, Car troubles, traffic, driving every day all day. Losing people but also gaining. Marketing was hard.
As you know, we’re big fans of LSC Gymnastics and Tumbling. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
LSC stands for my initials, Lauryn Sydney Cabarrus. I provide a low monthly rate, lower than most gyms to help parents of low-income families. My goal is to also have a nonprofit organization to help kids who are not yet able to afford gymnastics or cheerleading.
My gym is known to be personable. It is small, so your child gets more attention. There is no standing around, everyone is constantly moving and constantly working on their station. Kids are not only having fun but constantly improving. I am most proud of how fast we have grown in such a short amount of time.
We offer classes from 18 months – 18 years old. We also offer birthday parties, parent’s night out on 2nd and 4th Fridays, open gym on 1st and 3rd Fridays, and coffee and tumble time.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Scoring #1 in the state of Georgia on Vault and #3 all around in the state of Georgia.
