Today we’d like to introduce you to Lay Simone.
Hi Lay, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started painting as a way to process life. It became therapy then purpose. I built my brand LayMadeIt with faith creativity and vision. Every piece I create carries part of my story struggle resilience and becoming. I turned my pain into prints my growth into a gallery and my dreams into a business. I am still building still rising and determined to make art that funds my freedom.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. I am a single mother of three working to build a business while finishing school. There have been moments when I felt pulled in every direction trying to provide for my kids and still chase my dreams. Balancing motherhood, survival, and self belief has been my biggest challenge. But every obstacle taught me something about strength, patience, and purpose. I learned to move forward even when the way was unclear. That is what shaped me into the artist and woman I am becoming.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a visual artist and creative entrepreneur. My work blends emotion faith and storytelling through color and movement. I specialize in original paintings and digital art that speak to healing and transformation. I am known for creating pieces that feel personal yet universal art that reminds people of their power. What sets me apart is the depth behind my work and the way I use art to build community and legacy. I am most proud of turning my creativity into a brand that inspires others to believe they can do the same.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like most about the city is its mix of creativity and grit. There is a certain realness here that keeps you grounded while still pushing you to dream bigger. The art scene is growing and filled with talent that deserves to be seen. What I like least is how often that same talent goes unnoticed. Many artists have to leave to be appreciated when the beauty is already here.
