Today we’d like to introduce you to Lea Hayes.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always enjoyed making things with my hands especially jewelry. I started making leather earrings specifically about a year and a half ago and it has been so much fun! After having my daughter and becoming a stay at home mom, I decided I wanted to try something new. It started off as a hobby, but the more I wore my earrings the more people were interested in purchasing them, so I started my Instagram page so they could purchase there! I also sell them at the Marietta square artisan market!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a wonderful experience for the most part! There’s always a learning curve when you start anything new and this was no exception. I just had my second daughter nine weeks early and she spent almost six weeks in the nicu so my earrings were put on the back burner. Now, we are all home and doing well, so I’ve been enjoying my creative outlet again!
Please tell us about Hyde and Chic ATL.
I specialize in handmade leather earrings. The reason they are so well-loved is because they are so lightweight. They don’t pull down on your ear and are so comfortable to wear, you forget you’re wearing them! I love coming up with new designs and being inspired by things around me! What sets me apart most is my unique designs as well as my low pricing. I keep my prices low so that pretty much everyone who wants to buy a pair can do so!
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Going to the beach with my family spending summers in Greece at my grandparents home. I am so grateful for those summers and look forward to taking my family in the years to come!
