Today we’d like to introduce you to Lea Mason.
Hi Lea, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Lady Lea Faye, LLC started off as a collection of custom artwork pieces for friends and family who helped me during my MBA Graduation Brunch Fall of 2019. The celebratory brunch was entitled “It Takes a Village,” and it spotlighted 12 local Black-owned businesses from around the metro Atlanta area. Since my time in undergrad at Brenau University and during my career with Emory Healthcare, I’ve spent many hours hosting, planning, and decorating events over the years. This brunch gave me the opportunity to finally put my own skills to use for my graduation event. I made 18 centerpieces for the tables, using Ankara fabric, and ended up turning those into art pieces once the event was over. I gifted these art pieces to individuals who helped me with the event or those I consider to be very special in my life. Something clicked once I saw the responses these pieces were getting: this could be a business! Like many during the pandemic, we were left with nothing but time – so I took that time and established my business as an LLC, and it’s been a beautiful journey ever since.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say it’s been a slow incline. A lot of that has to do with time. I work in Healthcare full-time and have been since 2014. I have been looking for the perfect role that gives me the flexibility to excel during my day job but still have the mind power, energy, and creative space to make more pieces when I get home from work. I start a new role in a few days, and I believe this role is truly an answered prayer. It has more of a creative background essence to it, and for me – the more creative the job, the better! I look forward to spending more time in 2024 vending in local art shows and making my business more visible to the public eye.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My brand focuses on visible and wearable inspiration. I believe that the more you are able to see your vision, that image fuels your faith to accomplish your goals. My business specializes in making custom canvas art pieces that bring light and inspiration to any space, whether it’s your home, office, or media set. The sizes that have been best sellers so far are the 12″ x 12″ canvases, 16″ x 20″ canvases, and the 5.6″ square magnets. Name Art has been the most popular to date because it has the client’s name, meaning, spiritual connotation, and scripture association. I am a true advocate that you can change a space and your life by the words you speak. I am most proud of having repeat customers and that small businesses have brought their logo to me so I can make a custom piece for their office space. All art orders come with a free video consultation, so the client is able to pick their fabric and go over design options with me before it is created. This also makes the experience more personal and gives me an opportunity to get to know my client better.
What matters most to you?
Inspiring others matters most to me. I’ve always enjoyed encouraging others to reach their dreams. At work, I’ve focused a lot of my career in giving others the tools needed to succeed and excel in both their professional and personal life. In my friendships, I enjoy being a listening ear and supportive friend as they go after their goals. I believe that the people God has placed in your life are the greatest gifts He could give. I am very intentional about my friendships and have a true desire to see everyone in my circle succeed. It brings me great joy to inspire others and brighten their day. It’s my ministry :).
