Meet Lea Morgan, Psychic Medium in Ormewood Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lea Morgan.

Lea, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
At 22, I saw a deceased loved one of mine in a room — in full color and slightly transparent. He was waiting for me to see him and gave a big head-tilting laugh when I did. He also gave me a message to pass on. It was startling and unexpected. But, in retrospect, I find it unusual how much I wasn’t surprised that I had the experience. It wasn’t in my awareness at that time to look further into what happened. So, I moved forward into a career in advertising and later, worked in interior design.

My entry into a more spiritual realm didn’t begin in earnest until I got sober at 36 (in 2005). Initially, my search for a spiritual connection was in desperation to save my own rear end. As I discovered different metaphysical writings and concepts, I realized I felt connected to them in a way I couldn’t quite explain and over a period of no longer self-medicating, I became aware of subtle energies and how sensitive to them I was.

I didn’t realize it at the time, but I was being led through a course of mindfulness and healing. I just followed one instinct after another — getting into a yoga practice; purging my space of items I was holding on to out of fear or lack; spending more time outside; visiting with psychics, mediums and healers; writing down my dreams; changing my eating habits; paying attention to my intuition about people and circumstances and noting where my intuition was right on; and reading, reading, reading. It was during this period, that I began to get random visitations from the deceased loved ones of my friends.

As I slowly found the courage to share these messages, I realized they were accurate and healing for the recipients. I was also now aware that this could actually be a life’s work and I wanted nothing more than to participate in something full-time that made me feel so on purpose and provided service to others.

The last step on my journey to a career in this field was working with Janet Raftis — an energy healer and intuitive coach. By the time I finished a private 3-month course with her I was giving readings and on my way.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Hmmmm. I don’t know if I’d call it a smooth road, but I do have an acute awareness and gratitude for how lovingly I was led and how easily things have flowed for me once I claimed my gifts.

It can seem like things happened quickly for me. But, in reality, it took everything I had ever experienced in my life to get me ready. Being sensitive and often overwhelmed throughout my life and experiencing addiction forced me to search for better ways to live in order to make it here. I’ve always felt the best healers are those who know what the edge looks like. Experiencing trying times has created a compassion and understanding for me that I believe benefits my clients.

Even once things had evened out for me, it was terrifying to tell others about my ability. I was fortunate to get sober in a society that loves and appreciates sobriety. Then, I found myself needing to admit another truth — my intuitive gifts — in a society that has made progress in this arena but still has a way to go.

I had to be willing to risk the reactions of others to claim myself. It feels like a cliff, but, once you jump you realize you can fly.

What should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m a psychic and a medium. The difference is often misunderstood. Psychic ability is obtaining information about a person or situation that is not perceived through the normally recognized five senses. This information can be picked up from the energy of the person themselves or from their guides or possibly even from a cosmic consciousness. Mediumship ability is a subset of psychic work that allows the reader to communicate directly with deceased loved ones. All psychics are not mediums but all mediums are psychic.

I am best known as a medium. This is most likely because the demand for mediumship is high and the supply seems to be lower. Also, while all work in these areas is personal, those looking for a medium are understandably very cautious about selecting who to work with. And, once someone capable and thoughtful is discovered, the word of mouth referrals are quick to happen.

I do have many clients who see me solely for psychic work (I call it intuitive guidance). Thoughtfully timed psychic readings can help people navigate life and provide evidence that there is much more to this journey than meets the eye.

I believe that a part of the reason I was guided to this work is in an effort to help normalize it in some way. I’m a tall, blonde, Southern woman who has had over 25 years experience in the traditional business world and didn’t start this until the age of 47. If you passed me on the street you would not think that I talk to spirits. All of these things add up to being able to open up this world to people who might not have considered it before.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Oh, wow. Success is very personal. The older I get, the less I define it as what I see projected in our country.

Success for me occurs when I’m able to stand in my truth despite what anyone else may think; when I’m able to respond to life rather than react to it; when I’m able to put my ethical standards above the bottom line; when I’m able to look at my circumstances with gratitude and be where I am — no matter where that is.

I get to spend several hours on most days in direct communion with others. We usually have never met before that moment. But, in the time we spend together, connection and healing occur and it’s nothing short of magical. To have been present for someone during that time is a success.

My reading with Lea was life changing. I found her to be an extraordinarily gifted medium, with an amazing ability to present her “knowings” in life affirming ways. During the hour, I felt wrapped in heart, humor, good energy, and honesty. She’s the real deal, with much to teach.
