Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah DeVon.
Leah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Indie Style TV with Leah DeVon began as a fun show that I wanted to do after taking a break from a career as an indie recording. I was able to accomplish quite a bit as an indie artist without a major machine (major record label), I had the honor of working with top entertainment managers in my field. I was a featured performer for the Armed Forces Entertainment, the face of a fine jewelry line, and also was able to employ a wonderful team of musicians and singers to accompany me on the road.
I thought that creating a tv show that celebrated independent entrepreneurs would be a wonderful way for established indie entrepreneurs to share their success stories. Also, the show would provide a platform for up and coming indie entrepreneurs to gain valuable tips to enhance their careers.
Indie style tv began 6 years ago with myself and videographer Scott Rimkus. We began taping Indie Style TV with Leah DeVon on Saturdays. I would personally call successful, local entrepreneurs who I thought viewers would enjoy meeting and learning about.
The show began airing on local cable stations in Atlanta, Chicago, and New York. We were so lucky to have almost every guest that we invited on the show. I am so grateful for all of the wonderful guest that have shared their time and their business platforms with the show. I have learned so much.
I was incredibly fortunate to meet an entertainment company is 2017 (Hot Noize Entertainment). Their CEO Kari AR Gresham has a platform on The ROKU Channel. He liked the vision of mine. I was given the opportunity to sign a distribution deal with his company. Now Indie Style TV with Leah DeVon can be seen on The ROKU Channel via the Hot Noize Channel. We are currently streaming in over 30 million homes.
In 2018 The show was invited to be a part of The PChatman Network. Pam Chatman in known as “The Oprah of the South.” Pam also thought the show would be a wonderful way to celebrate and empower other entrepreneurs. She was kind enough to invite the show to stream on her platform. So this fall, Indie Style will be available on Amazon fire stick, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Google TV, Android TV, and iTunes. The show will be streaming in over 200 million homes worldwide.
I am very fortunate to work with an incredible team that is working to bring the very best independent entrepreneurs across the globe to our show and introduces them to our audience.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve had my ups and downs with the show. I feel blessed that I can say more ups than downs. I have such a supportive team. We all work incredibly well together and understand the vision for the show. The supervising producer of the show Timikal Bobo is a veteran in television. She has been nominated for two Emmy’s and continues to bring her expertise to the show. Warren McIntosh is our guest coordinator. He and his wife Tiffany are the creators of Eye Candy Creations celebrity eyewear line.
Warren has been kind enough to use his relationships to get incredible guests on our show. Todd Barron is our show photographer. He has a wonderful eye and his pictures are extraordinary. Our show videographer and producer Cymande Coburn is so easy to work with. He is patient and knows how to make our show tapings fun! He puts up with me saying “can we do that again.”LOL!
Our biggest struggle is trying to get as many eyes on the show as possible. In the world of streaming, there are many shows that already have over the air platforms. So we are continuing to push our social media and trying to bring awareness to the show.
IndieStyle TV with Leah DeVon – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Indie Style with Leah DeVon is an interview and talk entertainment show that I am the creator and host of. It’s my job to make the most hesitant guest want to share their life story.
Indie Style is the only television show that features independent entrepreneurs from around the globe. Instead of shooting inside a routine studio setting, Indie Style shoots on location for all of the shows. If there were a gumbo of talk-interview shows, Indie Style would be it.
The show focuses on interviewing guests as they share their struggles, triumphs, how they made it in their specific industries, and what their future holds. We give these entrepreneurs a platform for their work while inspiring up and coming entrepreneurs with helpful tips and information.
In essence, Indie Style introduces viewers to emerging talent, it shares the hidden jewels of cities around the world. Indie Style features the next famous designer, the hottest new stylist, the go-to chef, the up and coming sports star, the intelligent new author, and the next big megastar in TV and Film. I am so proud that the show is being invited to join the many different global platforms.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I am honored and very proud that we are currently streaming in 30 million homes and will be streaming in over 200 million homes by the fall.
It’s also a thrill to be invited to many of the wonderful events in the city. I feel like the show is beginning to make a name for itself.
