Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Marie Puffenberger.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Well, it’d be an awfully long story! But I’ll do my best to sum it up. I changed my path several times and I still feel like I continue to be pulled in different directions, but my passion is sound. I work every day in the sonic world whether it be a new music project or creating sounds for a film. I’ve gotten to where I am today through amazing education, supportive mentors in the music and film industry, and of course my very supportive family.
I decided I wanted to be an audio engineer after visiting a very close friend of mine who moved to London with his family. He enrolled in a school called SAE Institute of London (School of Audio Engineering). After visiting him and his school, I was hooked and I immediately applied for a student visa, moved to London and graduated overseas with a Major in Audio Engineering. I desperately tried to stay there, but after giving up on receiving a work visa, I moved back home to Atlanta. BUT! It didn’t stop me from pursuing my dream of recording my own music and working in film. I interned for a music studio (ZK Productions) for a year and a half before landing a job a Crawford Media as an assistant audio engineer. After a year, I decided I wanted to fly on my own and I created my company LMP Productions, specializing in Post Production Sound, Music Production, and Artist Development.
When I became a freelancer, I was able to spend more time working on my own music. I launched a new project called Coruja, my single SLOW just dropped last week and is streaming on all music platforms.
I hope to continue to grow my company and continue my new music project, Coruja.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The biggest struggle for me has been self-worth and trying to look at this form of art as a business. I think it’s one of the hardest things for any artist to look at something they’ve created and put a price tag on it. This past year and a half, I had to really change the way I was pursuing my business and learn how to become an entrepreneur.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with LMP Productions – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My company is called LMP Productions. Specializing in: Post Production Sound, Music Production, and Artist Development.
To break it down:
Post Productions Sound is anywhere from Mixing a film, Dialogue Editing, Foley, Music Scoring or Sound design. Creating whatever a film might need sonically.
Music Production: I’ve worked with several artists in and around Atlanta, recording, producing, and mixing their songs. LMP has also just released a new series on Youtube called LMP Live in the Living Room, where we host different artist and record them live in a living room.
Artist Development: I work with a handful of students that are pursuing their musical career and marketing themselves in this tough music business. LMP helps them on their own individual path in becoming a successful musician. We want to help artists shape their image, style, and voice.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I can’t wait for the future and what it holds. I have big plans and hope to continue to grow and learn more as a new business owner.
