Today we’d like to introduce you to Leel Wan.
Leel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born in Ft. Lauderdale Florida and I moved up to Atlanta in the 5th grade and later graduated from South Gwinnett High School. My journey into what I do now all started in savannah. Then it’ll pick up.
Well, it started back in 2012 when I just left SaVannah state and came back home. I started making beats and engineering artists in my area. These same artists had issues finding people to shoot videos for them. I saw an opening in the market and asked my mom to invest in my first camera for my business. I’m so grateful she helped because that was the turning point for so much. I began shooting a lot of events and small shows around the city as well as music videos. I just got better over time and my work began to speak for itself. I’ve shot commercials and big music videos. Some of the biggest projects I’ve been on include: Black China’s Makeup line commercial, Young Nudy’s “Yea yea” video, As well as Skippa da flippa’s “Don’t play me” video with The Imagine World & KB creative teams. My consistency is what has helped me get to the level I’ve obtained.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been a very rocky road to say the least. Especially being a creative we run into so many issues but the main one is capital. From working a 9-5 and going to school to working solely working for myself and creating a livelihood. Major obstacles that really took a tole were balancing school, work, and business. I spent so much time working on my business that ever other part of my life began to fail and the business was all I had. I had a business partner that later fell through and I was faced with having to start my business over from scratch.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Leelwan Productions Inc. – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
My business Leelwan Productions Inc. is a film production business and we specialize in cinematography and production. I’m most known for shooting an array of content from behind the scenes to fill productions. What I’m most proud of is the standard I hold my company to. I pride my self on creating a quality timeless product directly from the client’s imagination. I think what sets me apart is my attention to detail and the experience I provide.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The thing I like the most about ATL is the melting pot atmosphere and the great opportunities for networking as a business.
What I like least about it is that being a creative is not respected as an a business as much as it should be. There are so many creatives that make a living from their works as a creative.
