Meet Leslie Brooks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Brooks.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Have you ever felt trapped in or betrayed by your own body? Have you ever looked in the mirror and felt like you were looking at a stranger? That’s exactly how I felt after putting on 60+ extra pounds after having babies.

I felt uncomfortable in my own skin.

I stayed out of pictures.

AND I ended up with high blood pressure.

I was unhappy with what I saw and very frightened about my situation.

Since then, I’ve been on a mission to achieve mind, body, and spiritual wellness. Over the years, I’ve made changes to my activity level, what I eat, and how I think (very important). With time and persistent effort, I was able to lose the weight and keep it off.

While I was feeling good about my personal achievements, I found that I felt the best when I helped others achieve their own goals by sharing what I’ve learned on my own journey. That lead me to become a group fitness instructor, meditation guide, and fitness coach.

I know now that my purpose is to help others change their mindsets so that they can change their lives. I do this primarily by being an advocate for health and fitness. I believe that small steps are the key to mastering your mind and body. Once you do this, you can face any challenge… physical or mental.

My wellness journey continues, but it’s not just about me anymore! I’m helping others bridge the gap between where they are today and where they want to be. I’m helping them achieve their ultimate wellness goals, and that feels amazing!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No definitely not! During my journey to get healthy, I battled high blood pressure, low self-esteem, and unexplained neck and back pain. I suffered from these things for years before finally getting some relief.

I sometimes felt cheated. It was like I was making progress in one way, only to have to deal with some other sort of problem. I learned that sometimes, pain is part of the process. There is something you can learn from it if you don’t give up.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m a fit mindset and habits coach. I specialize in helping my clients train and condition their thoughts. This allows them to maintain consistency in their habits so that they can achieve their fitness goals.

My approach is different in that I don’t start with the “how” part of achieving wellness goals with my clients until after we’ve explored their “why” for getting healthy and fit. I also focus on successfully building tiny habits as the vehicle to goal achievement and lasting change.

My clients aren’t looking for ways to lose weight fast. They are seeking solutions that will help them achieve and maintain health and fitness as their way of life.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as peace and freedom. If I have the freedom to live the way I want to and peace about how I’m spending the time I have been given on this earth, then I’m successful.

It took a long time, but I feel that I’m starting to experience more of both of those things in my life. I’m not where I ultimately want to be, but I believe I’m walking on that path.
