Today we’d like to introduce you to Lil Sizzerr.
Hi Lil, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born in Lumberton, North Carolina, I grew up in the 41 areas until the age of 13, I remember as a kid I would watch my uncle make music in the studio in his closet and I didn’t quite understand it but I knew I wanted to try. At nine years old he let me record a track in his studio, even though is was straight ass I fell in love with music instantly.
At the age of 13, my mother decided my and my brother to Marion Indiana to try to escape the environment we lived in after being banned from school for fighting multiple times. I started doing freestyles on Instagram just for my friends to see but then I started getting a buzz and realized I might have something. freshman year of high school I met a friend (Khamarry) who asked if anyone wanted to perform at the school pep rally and I instantly said me. I decided to buy a laptop and microphone from a friend and upload a few songs to sound cloud for fun. After a few songs, I started to get a buzz n take it seriously. Ever since then it’s been up for me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I always had a problem with pride and anger, I always lashed out over slight disrespect cause I was taught to never be weak no man. But that didn’t bring nothing but stress and problems for my mom. But I learned to handle myself more along the way. The worst pain/setback. My older brother passed away while driving from Carolina to visit me. Losing someone that close to me hit differently to the point where I had to take a break from music.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an up-and-coming music artist coming from Marion, Indiana. My main category of rap is drill and melodic rap. I’ve opened up for multiple mainstream artists, co-signs and networked to say I’ve built a name for myself. What sets me apart from others is the sound, this ain’t just any other drill artist you can feel where it’s coming from and feel the pain in my melodic verses as well, and I have some of the best beat selections in my opinion.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
It was the perfect time to do music and promote everyone is on their phones so they can’t ignore you on their timeline or explore pages.
