Meet Linsey Wales of Just b Hair Salon in Buckhead

Today we’d like to introduce you to Linsey Wales.

Linsey, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my journey over ten years ago. Looking for a career that let me express myself creatively led me to hair design school. While there, I discovered that through hard work and dedication I could truly develop my talent. With long hours, working every Saturday and as many advanced education classes, as I could get into, I knew it was a commitment but I was hooked on hair. You have to love this industry to be in it, and I love it. As I started to grow in the hair industry, I soon realized that this would not only be a career for me but a passion. The most rewarding part for me as a stylist is when I get to use the knowledge and ability I have to create something amazing. There is no better feeling than making someone feel beautiful about themselves.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Some of the struggles I have faced in my career along the way are:
-Learning that you are not in competition with everyone else, you are only in competition with yourself. Wanting to be the best stylist, it can be easy to start comparing yourself to other great stylists around you or on Instagram, but instead of seeing those people as competition I’ve learned to let them inspire you and help you grow.

-Instagram; when I started in this industry Instagram was not popular. These days not only is it important to do amazing hair but also to be able to capture it. This has been one of my biggest challenges but I am starting to get the hang of it and still learning everyday.

-Finding ways to be inspired; working in the salon can start to feel repetitive at times. As a creative person, I crave inspiration. Luckily at my salon, Just b Hair, our continuing education is a big focus and gives me the tools I need to stay motivated behind the chair!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Just b Hair Salon story. Tell us more about the business.
The best thing about Just b Hair is the amazing continuing education. We get world-class artists to teach us the latest trends and techniques at our salon at least once a month. This kind of driven salon culture is hard to come by.

As many stylists usually choose a specialty, I consider myself an expert in both color and cuts. I believe only with a great haircut can your color truly come to life. When it comes to color I excel in blondes; balayage, foilyage, highlights, you name it. Mix that in with a trendy blunt bob or some fresh extensions and you have my average client.

Another area I thrive in but is not usually talked about as much is grey coverage, whether it is a full root cover paired with a balayage or a blend by highlights… I can conquer all your grey needs.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I feel blessed everyday that I found a career that I love and lucky I am pretty darn good at it too.
