Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Blackshear.
Lisa, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I moved to Atlanta from Ohio in 2004, I knew I wanted my own business & to work for myself. I just didn’t know exactly what it was I wanted to do. I’ve been a nurse for 20 years now serving & helping people, therefore I knew I wanted to continue to be a blessing to others. Fast forward to 2014, after being unsuccessful in numerous MLM companies, massage therapy & lash extensions, I turned my pain into my passion. Around 2012, I started to turn white “literally” & was diagnosed with vitiligo but my thought process was the devil is a lie. In the meantime, I started losing my melanin quick. So to cover up my insecurities, I learned how to do my makeup from YouTube to cover up the white spots on my face. I then started getting so many compliments about my makeup so I told myself maybe this is my calling. So in 2014, I went to the best makeup school in Atlanta Gwynnis Mosby and that was the start of my original business Lisa Bee’s Beauty Bar in the beauty industry.
In 2015, I decided I wanted to add another service in which I went to learn from the best lash extension trainer in Atlanta Ms. Conceited only to find out lashes was not my niche. I then discovered Permanent Makeup in 2016. I received my initial training in Atlanta for Microblading & the manual technique for Microshading. In 2017, I trained again and learned how to do the machine Microshading. But it wasn’t until my husband told me to do my research and learn everything I could about all the different techniques. At that point, I knew I needed additional advance training in machine Microshading. So I went to the best Advanced Permanent Makeup trainer in California Tracie at Soft Ink Studios and that’s when A’Lisa Brow Kreation L.L.C was born. Since then I’ve taken another training class from a Texas trainer in order to be able to start offering my own training classes.
And I also just recently took a Brow Mapping training with the best brow artist & trainer in Chicago Savvy Creations. As you can see, I’m an avid learner and I love to invest into my craft. I literally eat, sleep & *hit brows. I’m very passionate about my business and I pride myself in providing excellent customer service hands down! The future for A’Lisa Brow Kreation is very promising and it will allow me to retire from my nursing career and focus 1000 % on my clients and my trainees within the next four years. That’s my plan but who knows what GOD plan is, it may be sooner than later.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, although I dove in headfirst. I found someone who was willing to allow me to come into a suite on commission & help me get paying clients. I did my first ten clients for free then I started charging $150. I advertised on Groupon but I only got maybe 1-2 clients. Then the owner of the suites decided to relocate to a flee market and it went all downhill from there. Eventually, I ended up working out of my home in which that didn’t last long. I got discouraged but I didn’t quit!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the A’Lisa Brow Kreation story. Tell us more about the business.
A’Lisa Brow Kreation is an LLC training company that’s licensed & insured in the State of Georgia. I’m a Certified Advanced Permanent Makeup Artist who specializes in doing the Microshading Ombré Technique as well as offering Advanced Training Classes for beginners.
I’m known for being a professional nurse of 20 years who decided to change the lives of cancer survivors, people with no eyebrow hairs at all and the ones with eyebrow hairs but need a shape to complement their faces. I custom color and shape to my client’s liking.
I am most proud of having steady, consistent clientele. In the last two years, I’ve done over 200 people’s Eyebrow including Kandi Burruss mom Mama Joyce.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see this industry growing in the next 5-10 years to over a billion-dollar industry. I believe Microblading will be a thing of the past & mostly all artists will focus on providing Microshading or some new technique that’s in the works as we speak.
