So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a 37 years old Atlanta native, wife, mother of 9 and the CEO of Hair 911, Inc.
Hair 911 Inc. was established a few years ago, as a local hair extensions company in Atlanta, Georgia, and has managed to become a nationwide retail, wholesale and distribution business, despite having to overcome many obstacles! We have sacrificed everything in order to survive in the highly competitive market. Always being the underdog, our success was based on our never-ending efforts and unique approach towards the customers!
Coming from an underprivileged background, I know the problems of young girls in urban areas first hand. I was a single mom, with 5 children and always had to struggle to survive! That’s why I decided to devote a part of our services to underprivileged women and teens in the Atlanta area. We offer our hair extensions to them as a token of our gratitude. Being a community activist is the most fulfilling part of my life.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Now we are in a sort of a “fun” position to be in as well as challenging one… We are currently selling our hair extensions online from our website, Walmart.com, Amazon and Groupon. It is a blessing to be selling in those outlets but the cost to properly advertise/market and yield the results I want is the obstacle.
We have managed to get to this level in a rather short time, without any help and while working on our security guard company full-time.

Hair 911 is a breakout retail concept devised by a female entrepreneur who understands that, for most women, beauty doesn’t respect the 9-5 working day. The 35-year-old mother of 5 has created the beauty shopping experience that she has long wished for but never found: A 24/7 self-service kiosk that offers hair extensions and numerous other “can’t wait” beauty products.
Hair 911 is a company obsessed with creating an exceptional beauty experience on the go, that’s affordable and safe for your current hair regime. More times than not when companies design new products they contain preliminary flaws but our goal is to stay dedicated to quality because we know your beauty is at stake! We have planned a unique model that is second to none. Not only that, but our vending machines will make easy for our consumer to find us.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are currently a vendor for WalMart.com and now we plan on becoming a nationwide supplier for Walmart Stores, distributing/franchising our hair extension kiosks nationwide and opening/franchising Hair 911 locations.
We are also looking to grow our company through collaborative efforts. Our goal is to be everywhere the busy women are: airports, hotels, malls, corporate buildings, and convenience stores. The woman of today is a worker, a mother, and a provider, she may not have time to go to the beauty counter as much as she would like but it’s important for the outside of these women to match the inside, glowing with pride and accomplishment.
