Meet Litty Creetionz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Litty Creetionz.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I originally began drawing in the 2nd grade and continued throughout junior year of high school. Entering senior year, I was told numerous times that art would never bring in any money and I’d be living a subpar life… so I opted for Civil Engineering to secure the bag. A week before graduating college, I decided to decorate my graduation cap. A great friend of mine saw it and asked, “You ever thought about designing other people’s caps”? “Absolutely not” was my initial response but after three months of pursuing an Engineering position in Rock Hill, SC, I became depressed… and art was my only outlet. April 23rd, 2017 was the day I designed my first grad cap and from there, college friends and family spread the word like wildfire. This sparked the flame that fueled the original brand, Litty Caps by Pinky. After four semesters, I revamped the name to Litty Creetionz, which showcases all of my artistic abilities, rather than just grad caps. Now I can truly say that I am living in my purpose as a full-time artist.

Please tell us about your art.
My art is inspired by my name “Litty Creetionz”. Cree means believe in Spanish, which is within the word Creations… so you must believe in the creations. And through believing, my art will be litty. I primarily create custom grad cap designs but also paint in my free time. Graduates from all over the world tell me about their personal college journeys and I bring their stories to life. Every graduate deserves to have a special design to look back at and relive the emotions of accomplishing such a huge milestone. They deserve a keepsake to look back at and regain focus in times of confusion during post-grad. The purpose of my art is to shine a positive light on any darkness they may have experienced or are currently enduring. Every design that I create, I put my heart into it… and I want everyone to feel that.

As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
Personally, money does not measure success; however, happiness does. I achieved success when I no longer felt burdened by what I do for income. The thought of spending 70+ hours creating art every week fills my heart with immense joy, regardless of profit, and that alone shows that I have reached total self-fulfillment and essentially, success. As an artist, the emotions of self-doubt and self-critique often creep in and pose threats to my overall growth; however, having a true vision behind my purpose and passion has continuously propelled me forward. Authenticity is key and maintaining a positive mindset is essential for any artist in search of true self-fulfillment. At the end of the day, when you love what you do, the money will chase you.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
