Meet Liz Lapidus of Liz Lapidus PR in Inman Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz Lapidus.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I founded my PR firm 20 years ago after working at an agency and Turner Entertainment. Atlanta had just hosted the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games and it was a really exciting time to be here. The city was booming and I was lucky to land some really great clients right out of the gate. Over the years, my company has gained market share in various industries including hospitality, real estate, health and beauty, retail and the arts, but all the while, we’ve remained focused on giving back. The city has been very good to me and it’s a core value of my company to donate time back to help push the needle forward for causes that are good for the city. I have provided PR support for countless charities over the years, and currently devote much of time to Chastain Horse Park, the AIDS Memorial Quilt, National Center For Civil & Human Rights and AID Atlanta.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Well, of course, 20 years of anything can’t possibly all be smooth. But the good has far outweighed the bad. Still, when the economy tanks, PR is generally the first to be cut. Over the years, my business has ebbed and flowed with the swing of the economic pendulum.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
There are a lot of great boutique PR firms in town and I’m proud to say that we’re all friends. There’s enough business for all of us and I think we all try to stay in our lanes and refer business to other firms when we know we’re not the right fit. My company is known for launching amazing brands. We are the ultimate connectors and are expert at carefully curating the right activation to get our clients’ target audiences excited. Our ultimate goal is to drive revenue for our clients. I’m proud of the success stories – amazing events, great press, important introductions. But, I’m also proud of the things I’ve “fixed” through an executive council.

What were you like growing up?
I grew up in Miami in the 80s and it was a great place to be. I loved the beach, my friends and riding my horse. I’m still a rider today.
