Meet Lois Burnett of Hair Jewels by lolo™ in Douglasville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lois Burnett.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My sister, who lost her fight with breast cancer is the inspiration for my hair jewels. The diagnosis, treatment and loss of hair had a negative impact on her causing her to lose her self-esteem. I was determined to help her regain her beautiful spirit by making little jewelry pieces for her scarves and wigs. She loved them. They made her feel pretty again. I told her she was strong just like a jewel. No one or nothing could ever take that shine and sparkle away from her. It belonged to her. She got so many compliments and that made her feel good. To know that I played a little part in bringing some light back to her life gave me such joy.

Sadly, in December of 2014, she received her wings. I remembered those ladies who inquired about the jewels and decided to keep it going in her memory. I collected my thoughts, began my research, joined an inventor’s group, and sought advice from experts in the jewelry industry and other successful entrepreneurs to assist me in creating the best product possible. Thus, Hair Jewels by lolo™ was born.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There were and continue to be many obstacles. However, I look at them as experience and opportunities to learn. Growth and knowledge are essential to run a successful business. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed sometimes or have anxiety, but it’s not okay to stay there. I found that acknowledging that it was present was good therapy for me. The next step was finding a solution. I look at challenges and adversity straight on and say, you gotta go. There is no energy or life here for you.

Another thing that helps me greatly is reading. I read as much as I can about the road other successful people had to travel. It kind of laid the foundation for me. Advised what to expect and/or not to expect. Especially, from people. So, when things happen, I can refer back to them and remember their adversities and how they handled it. I don’t take it so hard because I was warned this is a part of the journey.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Hair Jewels by lolo™ – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We make jewelry for the hair, our design concept is to enhance a woman’s confidence, natural beauty, and individuality as well as empower and enrich self-expression. Our goal is to celebrate women and their uniqueness. We believe strongly in unity and women supporting women.

Exquisite pieces that add an extra dash of elegance to create exceptional style that is all you. Take control of your individuality by wearing one, two or mix them for a one of a kind look for your unique occasion. Each jewel is hand-crafted to a standard of perfection. Polished sterling silver and sparkling stones in vibrant colors are prong set by skilled craftsmen to achieve a radiant shine from every angle.

Hair Jewels by lolo™ have substance, meaning and are much more than jewelry for the hair. We like to think we help create memories. They are perfect keepsakes with heirloom quality that can be passed down to loved ones for generations to come.

We proudly support Susan G. Komen Greater Atlanta, Global Down Syndrome Foundation and Lupus Foundation of America by giving a percentage of the sale of our pink, blue and purple jewels to these wonderful organizations.

Hair Jewels by lolo™ will turn heads and take your look to the next level. Be Beautiful!!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My dream is to take Hair Jewels by lolo to a national level. I want to see many women wearing them because they represent you are part of a movement. Something bigger than yourself. Women who have taken control of their lives and will not let anything dictate how they live their lives. Knowing that your purchase helps others and organizations to fight, prevent and find cures for diseases that threaten to steal joy that is rightfully ours is a wonderful feeling.

I want to continue to learn and grow in a direction that is healthy and sustainable. Most important to grow in the direction God has planned for me. I desire to be in a position to reach back and not just extend a hand but to grab other women behind me to continue that connection.

I have other designs and ideas that I am excited about developing as well as other areas I want to venture into. I will work hard to realize my dream. I am committed to the promise I made to my sister and myself.
