Today we’d like to introduce you to LoRen Briggs.
LoRen, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My mom was a childcare provider, of a before and after school daycare. Many of the kids loved music, so she created an activity for the school aged kids to write songs about a given topic, in 15 minutes. I participated, and at eight years old, in 15 mins, I would write great songs that my mom didn’t believe I wrote, to the point where she would google the lyrics. ( Which she’d find I wrote the songs) This is how I initially fell in love with singing and songwriting, and have been creating ever since. After years of dedication, I have been blessed to perform in front of thousands, collaborate on international music projects, and release original music from the soul.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve had various odd jobs while pursuing music in the past. From being a truck loader at UPS to working in retail to being a customer service rep, to being a freelance model for Rue 21. I was even apart of a music label during my teen years that ended abruptly and left me depressed for a while. After that, I traveled on Greyhound back and forth to Detroit to record a new music project with my producer, for all of the music to be lost after his hard drive crashed.
My journey has been hard, but worth it. This is my first year being able to be a full time artist, and I am grateful and ready to show the world what I can do.
Please tell us about your art.
I am a singer/songwriter from Pittsburgh PA. I write and arrange my music, I am also trained in classical and Broadway music. I write for local artists and collaborate with art venues to create events entitled “No Covers” to showcase the original work of unknown singer songwriters. I was featured in a Maybelline New York campaign as an artist and model that ” makes it happen,” and I am also studying Music Production at Full Sail University set to graduate in August.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment is releasing my newest E.P entitled ” A.M” which is written about the vibes that we feel in the morning, it is available on every major streaming platform! Every song sounds like a different genre, but still incorporates my soul music roots. This is the first project I have released completely independent, and it is getting a lot of love.
