Today we’d like to introduce you to Luckii Ya Dig.
Luckii, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
“It’s the T O O T I E, hater’s don’t want you with me” became the defining moment to Luckii Ya Dig’s career, at the age of 12 “I just wanted to be better than my older female cousin.” I took that exact same verse to school and on the spot got the title first lady of the “Hard Throb Clique” in Middle School. By the time I was in high school, I was a solo act doing early morning freestyles in the cafeteria or the gym. After graduating high school, I took it more serious and was a last-minute act to be added on “The Refuge Tour” to honor my city New Orleans, La., following Hurricane Katrina in 2005. After that, I felt the need to put the show on the road so I moved to Atlanta, Ga. Started doing open mics, and I was actually winning almost every open mic I would enter including Apache Café where I got artist spotlight in 2011. That lead to opening acts for artists like Lil Jon’s East Side Boyz, Dj Unk, and 112. As well as Deca High School 2014 Senior Prom & Moorehouse College Homecoming Act in 2015. I’ve been nominated for Best Female Underground Artist in Atlanta. In 2016 moved to California and performed on Hollywood Blvd.
I’m now pushing the envelope for myself by wanting more, more opportunities should I say.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It sounds smooth when you talk about it, but in reality, it’s been a lot of hard work, and dedication. A striving, starving artist is hard to maintain in a day to day life. I’ve had times where I was not able to figure out what’s next for my career. Give up or keep going? I’ve never had management or representation to help me move about in this fast pace industry. You know you have a dream but’s I you have what it take? “While in L.A. I was homeless for months.”
Please tell us about Stoner Muziik ENT – what should we know?
So, I started my very own label. Stoner Muziik ENT, which is a recording label for an independent artist, independent managers, independent entertainers, and independent sports agents. It’s like any other label, but with more outlets for the artist, as well as entrepreneurs. We are reconstructing the platform of how it should be done. I mainly stick to my niche as an artist and try to present what the label represents as a whole from vision, creativity, and independence. It’s a brand, it’s not just a label and it has a market for every audience. No other label has athletic partnership.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My charisma. They don’t call me Luckii for anything. I have this Gab about myself that draws people in, and once I got you. You stuck with me.
