Today we’d like to introduce you to Luis Angel Martinez.
Hi Luis, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After I graduated high school in 2018, I went straight into the work field. No college or anything. I worked in all types of construction jobs. HVAC, Electrical, Air Duct Cleaning, Window Installation, Painting, and Remodeling. I hated every second of it. It was never my thing, but I kept pushing forward. I needed to pay my bills and keep a roof over my head. When the pandemic hit in 2020, I got laid off from every job I applied for. Getting to the point where I didn’t have enough money to pay my rent and bills. I was so eager for a job, that I went to Home Depot to look for a job OUTSIDE. I went for 3 days straight, and I didn’t have any luck. I went a 4th day, and I got cussed out by a customer for standing outside asking for work. That was the breaking point for me. I was only trying to survive, and I was doing what I could. After that incident, I went to my car and broke down completely. Frustrated with everything, I said I have had enough! I wiped my tears and walked back into Home Depot and bought a water sprayer. I went back home and asked my mom to let me borrow some money. I told her I was going to start tinting windows. I had some experience tinting windows with a friend right after I got out of high school. I got another construction job to maintain me above water and after work, I would tint my friend’s cars. I did it on the side for 3-4 months and I officially went full-time in August 2021. I invested in myself and grew the business to what it is today! Of course, it wasn’t easy, but when you have the drive and the ambition, nothing will stop you. That’s why my business is called Resilient Tint. Nothing can stop us from getting to our goals when you have that mentality.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The biggest struggle I had were learning the trade! When I started tinting, I only knew how to tint the front windows and didn’t know anything else. I had to learn by trial and error. Tint is very fragile. If you cut it too short, there’s no turning back. You have to use another piece. Which costs more money, and you lose more profit at that point. I also didn’t know how to run a business which led me to make some bad investments. Little by little I made the right adjustments and I stayed consistent. The road is never smooth when you want to be one of the best in the game.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business focuses on all auto styling/cosmetic work. We specialize in window tint, taillight/headlight tint, and ceramic coatings. We are mostly known for window tint, but we are always expanding our services to be the one-stop shop for our customers! I am proud of offering quality and honest work to my customers. When you come to us, you know we will work with you. We aren’t here for a quick buck. We are here to make connections and network to the max! What’s next?
Our plans for the future are MASSIVE! As we said before, we want to be the one-stop shop for everyone. We want to expand to do it all! Tire coatings, Vinyl wraps, PPF, chrome deletes, and much more! You name it, we do it! We are very close to moving onto bigger and better things.
