Today we’d like to introduce you to Lyndon Winchester.
Lyndon, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started in the entertainment industry when I was four. I have had the opportunity to work as both a model and an actor over the years. During my time in the business, I developed a love for helping others. This is what propelled me to seek to be on the other side of the business. In college, I met a designer who I had discussed partnering with. I wasn’t certain at the time what the venture would be but I knew if it had anything to do with fashion, I wanted in. Prior to our partnering up, the designer passed away. I then decided that I wanted to open up an agency. Initially, when I came up with the idea I only pursued working with child models. For a brief stint, our agency developed and booked children ages 2-11. Upon seeing the success we were having, we decided to venture out and expand our Agency board. We began representing fashion models and primarily worked as a fashion-based agency out of the Atlanta area.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road along the way has come with many variations. In any business endeavor, I have come to realize that there is going to be work that has to be done. As long as you are mentally prepared to steer the course, you will come out on top. One of the major struggles is the ability to duplicate yourself with the staff that you hire. In the fashion world, this can be a challenge because it is hard to find talented individuals that will stay loyal to your brand, your vision, and your output. We have worked with many that have gone on to have their own successes but sometimes you are ultimately the one that initially pays the price for it. Call it paying it forward.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the HOP Models & Talent Agency story. Tell us more about the business.
We have defined our Agency HOP Models as a movement forward in fashion. We specialize in the development of young emerging talent. We are known for the unique faces that we generated and circulated throughout the World of fashion. We have created relationships that allowed Atlanta to become one of the great fashion markets that it is today. Our team has dedicated itself to being ahead of the trend curve. To forecast where fashion is going to be. We have always been known for what our talent brings to the table.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The biggest shift we have seen in our industry is the emergence of social media and online merchandising. The difference now is the enlarged platform that talent has that helps in their promotion and marketing over the course of their careers. This is exciting because of the access that it gives you worldwide to become a household name. Talent isn’t as reliant on one form of medium like it was in the past. There is an ever-present revolving wheel in fashion so the trends for us come back full circle.
