Meet Madison Holmes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Holmes.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I became a nurse in 2012. My original background was in emergency and ICU medicine. As I was obtaining my nurse practitioner degree, I was offered a job in medical aesthetics. Honestly, I had no idea what it even was at the time, but thought it sounded “fun” and interesting.

I decided to take the job and see what it involved. I ended up LOVING medical aesthetics. I connected with my patients and was able to establish a healthy working and emotional relationship with them. I believed this was important in a field such as aesthetics, as it required extreme trust in the provider.

My mission was to deliver quality and honest care. Word of mouth and referrals quickly gained me a large and loyal following. My social media began to grow, and I started to become established within the injecting community.

I have now grown to a very large local following. This has allowed me to be booked for 2-3 months out at a time while maintaining patient retention. I am always humbled and grateful for my patients who trust me to treat their friends and other loved ones who they are close with. I am constantly seeking ways to evolve and elevate my injection and safety techniques. I have personally been invited to train with some of the largest names in the industry such as Dr. Robinson, Dr. Surek, Dr.Swift, and Dr. Yoelin.

Education has always been a passion of mine. Most recently, I have opened a training academy with my partner Jennifer to offer training for other nurses looking to get in to medical aesthetics. I love this field and feel so lucky to have found a career in which I can help others while having fun.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No job is perfect. However, I feel so lucky to have a job that I feel is worth it.

When I first got involved in aesthetics, it was overwhelming and scary. I came from a field of emergency medicine, where I was an expert, to the field of medical aesthetics and became a novice again. Despite aesthetics being fun, it is a serious field and should be treated as such. The knowledge that I needed to acquire was robust. It involved anatomy as well as technique and artistry. I had several mentors that were crucial to my success of becoming a safe and effective injector, and I will forever be grateful to them.

Tell us about your work – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My job as an advanced aesthetic injector involves treating patients with injectables. This would be antiwrinkle injections for the face such as forehead lines. I also provide filler injections to the face such as cheeks, chin, lips, and jawline. I specialize in advanced and most importantly, safe, techniques including the use of a microcannula. This is a needleless device that makes injectable treatments more comfortable and lessens the risk of bruising.

As previously mentioned, I recently opened a training academy with my partner Jennifer. As aesthetic injectable training specialists, we educate other nurses on how to become aesthetic injectors. We teach fundamental (basic) as well as advanced injectable techniques. We also train them on the art of aesthetics and providing dynamic consultations to establish a treatment plan that works for the patient’s goals and budget.

I am most proud that I have always stayed true to myself. I truly feel that aesthetics should be a fine balance of enhancing a patient’s natural features without trying to change how he or she looks. I pride myself in the ability to work with any budget and build a treatment plan that my patients feel comfortable with. Lastly, I pride myself in the way I consult and educate my patients. I want them to feel empowered and knowledgeable with the treatment they receive. Ultimately, their comfort is my utmost priority.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as whatever makes YOU happy. While many people think of “success” in monetary terms, I think of success in terms of quality of life. I always joke that I “work to live, not live to work”, but it really is true.

For me, my driving force is having a career that helps others while allowing me to maintain a comfortable life. Ultimately, my family is my top priority. Having a flexible career that affords me the ability to make a living without sacrificing time with my loved ones is my definition of success.
