Meet Magan Cockes of The Mom Roost in Marietta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Magan Cockes.

Magan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I struggled with getting fit and healthy after pregnancy for several months then last January, I started my fitness journey to becoming a better me for myself and family. In February, I started my Fit Fashion Mom Blog to help other moms that struggle with getting started on their fitness journey. On my blog, I chat about how fitness has helped me balance motherhood. Although fitness is important fueling your body with the right food is more important so, I have made Guidelines to Meal Prepping and I post about healthy eating on social media. Then, I decided if that all moms want to look great so I incorporated fashion into my blog. Now, my blog is only 7 weeks old but, I get tons of feedback from people about how using my Guidelines to Meal Prep has helped them. In addition to fitness, my fashion post has been a huge hit on my blog and social media. I represent empowering woman through social media posts and my blog so they know they are not alone when it comes to fitness struggles!

Has it been a smooth road?
I would say building my website the way I wanted it was my biggest struggle. There are so many steps to building a website. Also, building my audience and reaching people is a long process. Through building my audience I did come across a group of moms that apparently didn’t like my content so, they left me several rude inappropriate messages and even using profanity. My content is positive and empowering so rising above the negativity and ugliness in this world has become a bigger focus for me.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I show moms/women how to find balance in motherhood. My blog gives steps on jump-starting your fitness through your metabolism, meal prepping, and daily activities. I get the most feedback on my Meal Prepping posts. Moms actually send me pictures of their meal prep and that’s what I am most proud of, that I am helping others!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, Atlanta is a great city that offers many different metros if the city is not for you. Since Atlanta is big then it’s easy to meet other people that are struggling with the same things you are, like fitness and working on those struggles together.
