Today we’d like to introduce you to Mai Tai.
Mai, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a licensed cosmetologist based out of PHL & ATL. I am a Philly native, but I feel at home in Atlanta. Having been in the hair industry for nine years, I’ve decided to take my talents to another state! Atlanta has welcomed me with open arms and many opportunities. This road hasn’t always been easygoing, but it has definitely been worth it!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I face many challenges daily in my career. It has not been a smooth road, but that’s what builds character. Building clientele was the hardest for me, but with dedication and hard work, I have grown a strong clientele that I am beyond grateful for! It was also challenging to stay focused all of the time because in life we desire many things or want to be so far ahead but having tunnel vision has helped me.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I express my artistry with my hands. As a hair stylist, I believe that my work is art. I love what I do so much that I couldn’t see myself doing anything else. I specialize in natural hair and hair care, most known for slaying the girlies each time they sit in my chair. I am a perfectionist so I take my time and really admire my work after each client. I am proud of my growth and how I continue to evolve! Starting over in a completely new city can be scary and risky, but I know that I will continue to take ATL by storm! My uniqueness and energy set me apart from others most. People feel my energy as soon as they meet me. Besides me being a talented hair stylist, I am relatable to my crowd and have a positive influence.
Any big plans?
My plans for the future are to fully relocate to Atlanta permanently and continue to grow as a celebrity stylist.
