Meet Malcolm MaC Odwin of MaC 100it Engineering in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Malcolm MaC Odwin.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my engineering career from a home studio about 12 years ago. I originally started out rapping and became interested in the engineering aspect of music the deeper I got into the craft. I began interning at The Omen Agency. A well-known studio in the heart of downtown Atlanta. I interned for over a year under the guidance of ProtoCal and Jiggy Meyers for Backdraft Beats and eventually built up a clientele list from working with Yung Mazi an up and coming inspiring artist out of Atlanta. Working with him as his personal engineer and manager he introduced me to various other artist in the industry which helped to garner my reputation as an elite engineer in the city. While building a name in the industry I linked up with Dj Esco and worked as an arranging engineer on his Project E.T. mixtape which included the platinum single Too Much Sauce ft Lil Uzi Vert. That led to me to working on his first solo studio album Kolorblind. Over the course of my ten-year career as an audio engineer I have had the pleasure of working in just about every major studio in Atlanta and on multiple artist projects from Hip Hop to Gospel.

Has it been a smooth road?
Some of the struggles that I faced as an upcoming engineer were just the long hours late nights away from home pro bono sessions dealing with different artist attitudes and just learning what they like and dislike as far as studio etiquette goes. Keeping a consistent clientele flow and being available to work around the different artist schedules.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with MaC 100it Engineering – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My company is MaC 100it Engineering LLC. It is known for providing elite engineering services as far as mixing, recording, and mastering services. The thing that I am most proud of about my company is that I know it exactly where it started from and the long nights and effort that went into building and developing it into a staple engineering firm. I set apart from my competitors by being able to connect with the artist on a personal level as well as a professional level.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Atlanta is the mecca of the new hip hop culture. It helps to be directly involved in the total creative process of the music from the lingo to the style Atlanta is the home of Hip Hop and black entertainment culture. The only thing I dislike is the city is small so it’s a lot of intricate politics that you can find yourself getting caught up in if you’re not focused.
