Meet Manté

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Manté. Manté was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Jaron Smalls.

Manté, can you walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always loved music. When I was very young I started by singing as people entered our church and playing around on the keyboard. At 11 years old my grandad bout me my first guitar, he is a decent blues player. He taught me a few blues scales and by the next day I was ripping through them. He told me I had talent. I started rapping for fun around the same time in middle school. I found I was talented I’m this realm as well. This hobby continued all the way until I got to college where I quickly realized the often forcibly predestined post-collegiate corporate route was not for me at all. I mulled over what made me happy and what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Something I would love doing no matter how much work it would take to get there. The choice wasn’t too hard. I started making music seriously and utilizing the connections I had made at school to my advantage, performing around the city of Charlotte. After my second release in June 2020, a mixtape called “Mante”, I was approached by a few managers and A&Rs. I decided to sign a distribution deal to Sony & The Orchard in Nov. of 2020. Most recently I was able to organize a concert with my brother, producer, and business partner Jaron Smalls this past Halloween. Now at officially 3 years since my first release and hundreds of thousands of streams later, I am hungrier than ever.

Please talk to us about your creative work and career. What should we know?
My music is for the eclectic. My songs rarely reflect similar patterns sonically, and they have subject matter that ranges as well. The most important thing that I want anyone to have when they listen to my music is confidence and faith in themselves. I believe strongly in God and I have immense faith in myself and others. I also believe in the power of manifestation and the ability of each of us to cocreate our ideal realities. My latest release “Right Now” along with all my other live music is on Spotify, Apple Music, etc. Subscribe to my YouTube channel and check out the website for updates!

So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Jaron Smalls and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Jaron.
I met Jaron at a party I threw in my dorm room in college our freshman year as his roommate hilariously destroyed my blinds, likely causing me a housing fee. We were in the same circle of friends for about two years before we began making music together. Jaron believed in me and I believed in him. We began making music together that our peers would often mention and were ultimately drawn too. We plan to re-release a lot of older content, as well as put out fresh new collaborations in the near future.
