Meet Marcia Plummer of Endless Travel Biz in Loganville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcia Plummer.

Marcia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am the CEO and Founder of Endless Travel Biz. I was born and raised in Jamaica. In 1994, I moved to the British Virgin Island (BVI) in search of a better way of life for me and my young kids at the time. After moving to the BVI, I was living closed to the ocean, being so close to the ocean every day, I had the opportunity to gazed across the ocean every morning, and I remembered back then how much inner peace it use to gives me every day. I remembered one day while working in a small dress shop on main street in Tortola (BVI) overlooking the ocean, I saw the first cruise ship in my entire life, I remembered muttering quietly to myself that one day I will be on a ship. (LOL) I knew right then that I wanted to work in the travel industry. So I started to travel to different Caribbean countries that was close to the (BVI).

After living in the Virgin Island (BVI) for eight and a half years I moved to the USA, thinking it would better allowed me to go after my passion to work in the travel industry, but I was quickly met with some difficult decisions and at the time I had to do what most people do when they first arrived into the USA, and that’s to go back to school and get a job. At the time, it was not what I wanted to do but I had to do what I had to do to take care of my kids as a single mother. After working many years in healthcare field, I come to realization that I was missing my passion and was very unhappy and stressed working my full-time job. It was not long after my youngest daughter went off to college, I come to my senses that I was an empty nester and FREE to do what I always wanted to do. With my new found FREEDOM, I quickly pick up where I left off and quickly decided to pursue my love for the traveling industry. My husband and I, who was then my fiance started to travel around the world.

Fast forward to April 2015, I then joined a Travel Membership Club/Network Company, I then ordered my business cards and created my business page on Facebook and begin to promote myself in the travel industry, again I was met with some challenges, After a year of working with this company, I quickly realized that I wanted to be more on the travel agent side of the business and not a network marketing personal as I wanted to own my own company one day. I quit the Network and started working under a Host Agency as part-time travel agent, that when the real snuggle kicks in. LOL

At first making the switch was very hard, it was a struggle to maintained being a new bride and working a full-time job and also trying to build my clientele. I so believed in my mind when I started out out in my the business I was so sure that my friends and family was always going to be there to support my business,(especially the ones that was close to me) NOPE, Not the case, LOL.

But now I can looked back at where I started from and smiles. It wasn’t easy and thank God every day. I can truly say it turned out differently and mold me into the person I am today, As the CEO of my company, I have learn 5 lessons that keeps me going every day, and I will name them, 1. Stay true to myself, 2. Patience, 3. Humble, 4. Stay Focus, 5. Work harder, 6. Never to give up in what I believe in. My desire to become my own boss and having my own company pushes me everyday not to give up on my dream. I was eager to learn everything so I attended local and distant travel conferences. In March of 2018, I decide to stepped out in faith and quit my full-time job. I was working for four and a half years, I began working full time from home. Three months later, I got my license in the state of Georgia and also received my accreditation to work as a licensed Travel Agent. I now have three agents working under my company at Endless Travel Biz.

I loved what I do and do what I loved, Being a travel agent is not just booking travel online, you have to have a passion and love what you do, you have to be a people person and have that one and one connection with your clients, and that what my company offers. I enjoy seeing my clients posting all their beautiful vacation pictures on social media and that makes me very happy, One of the greatest feeling now is I get to work and travel around the world doing what I love and also sharing my experiences with my clients through the world of travel, and that’s the most fulfilling thing ever is following my heart and dream.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road has not been a smooth one. It is a working progress every day. One of the struggles that I had was building my clientele. It was a big struggle. I started out believing that my friends and family would be my biggest supporter in my business (especially the ones that was close to me) but I quickly learned, NOPE, Not the case, LOL. But now I can looked back at where I started from and smiles. It wasn’t easy and I thank God every day for the people that entrust in me and my company to service their vacation needs. I can truly say that this road to being a CEO as teaches me a few lessons that I use and reminded myself every day and also share with my kids. And no matter what life bring me, I always remember these five things.

1. Stay true to yourself
2. Patience,
3. Humbleness
4. Stay Focus,
5. Work harder,
6. Never to give up on what I believe in. (Your Dream)

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, with Atlanta being one of the fastest-growing states in the USA, I do believed that it is a good place to start a business of any kind. My only recommendation is, ”and this is just generally speaking” people need to be more supportive of each other, especially in small black owned businesses, because this is the only way small business will be able to survived in our city that will indeed grow and build stronger communities.
