Meet Maria Jordan of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Jordan.

Hi Maria, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story really began long before the titles, well before “author,” “media entrepreneur,” or “podcast host.” I’ve always been the girl who paid attention to people’s stories, who saw the power in using your voice, and who believed that the right message at the right moment can change someone’s life.

My media journey began when I realized women, especially Black women, needed safe spaces where we could be honest, inspired, and seen. That’s how Afternoon Tea Radio ( now Afternoon Tea with Maria Jordan) was born, a platform for real conversations with real people. As the show grew, so did my vision. I launched ATR Media Enterprises to expand into storytelling, branding, and helping entrepreneurs and creatives amplify their voices.

Becoming an author was the next natural step. My first children’s book opened the door, and now my second book, The Secret Keeper: Trust Your Intuition, launches soon. Writing has become another way I pour into the next generation, teaching them to honor their inner voice and trust themselves early in life.

Today, I stand at the intersection of media, leadership, and empowerment. I use my platforms to tell stories, elevate women’s voices, and encourage others to step into their own gifts with confidence. My journey has been a mix of faith, hard lessons, and divine timing, but every chapter has brought me closer to the work I’m meant to do.

I’m still growing, still evolving, and still building. And I’m grateful for everyone who walks this journey with me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not, it’s never been a perfectly smooth road. Every step of the way has come with lessons, challenges, and moments where I had to dig deep. Early in my career, I faced the challenge of being a young Black woman in leadership, constantly having to prove my competence and earn respect in spaces where I wasn’t always seen or heard. That built resilience, but it wasn’t easy.

Launching my own media company and stepping into authorship came with its own hurdles, learning how to navigate the business side of creative work, balancing multiple roles, and managing the fear that comes with putting yourself and your ideas out into the world.

There were moments of self-doubt, setbacks, and projects that didn’t go as planned. But each struggle taught me something invaluable: how to trust myself, pivot when necessary, and lean into the vision I knew I was meant to pursue.

If anything, the challenges have made the victories sweeter and the work more purposeful. They’ve reinforced that growth rarely comes from comfort, it comes from persistence, faith, and the courage to keep moving forward even when the path isn’t clear.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a storyteller, author, and media entrepreneur. I host Afternoon Tea with Maria Jordan, where I have real conversations with people breaking barriers, sharing lessons, and inspiring others to trust themselves. I am on the Board of BrownGirl Village and The Institute of Real Estate Management. I also host events, speak, and lead workshops like Lead Like You Know: Trust Your Inner Voice, helping women tap into their intuition, step confidently into leadership, and make choices aligned with their purpose.

As an author, my books, including my soon-to-launch The Secret Keeper: Trust Your Intuition, give the next generation tools to trust themselves early and embrace their inner voice. What sets me apart is blending personal experience with practical guidance. Showing, not just telling, what it means to lead, create, and thrive.

At the heart of it, I create spaces where women feel seen, heard, and empowered to show up fully in their lives.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Most people know me as confident and driven, but what they might not know is how much I’ve had to learn to trust myself along the way. Early in my career, I often doubted whether I belonged in leadership or if my voice mattered, even while I was helping others find theirs. Those moments of uncertainty shaped who I am today and remind me that growth often comes from leaning into discomfort.
