Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariah Zarback.
Hi Mariah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Mariah Zarback and I’m a 27 year old single mom and entrepreneur. I’ve had a love for makeup and fashion my whole life, but it really peaked in college. I went to Alabama State University, where I ended up joined a modeling organization, “Elite,” and was introduced to a whole different world. I was coached on many things, including how to do my makeup for everything from the runway to every day on the go look. I took those skills and moved around a bunch. I had so many modeling opportunities in Atlanta thanks to the connections I met through Elite, and I really enjoyed it, but I always had it in the back of my mind that I wanted to start a business, that was my ultimate goal.
So as the years went by and my passion for fashion and makeup continued to grow, I also went through a lot of life changes, like becoming a mom and having to move back home to Colorado to be closer to family. I was always getting compliments on my lashes and makeup and decided it was time to stop day dreaming and make something of my passion. It was right before the pandemic hit last year when I launched my business BlinkMink Lash Co. We offer a variety of high-quality eyelashes and beauty accessories. I pride myself on using products I can stand by and giving the girls options!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not easy; but I always say if it was, everyone would be doing it. I think my biggest struggle has just been trying not to get discouraged with all the obstacles that can and may occur. You never realize how much goes into starting a business and being your own boss until you do it, and it can be very overwhelming at times. We landed a partnership with Walmart.com in our first year which was a huge success; however, it was a long process and it’s still taking some time to get all of the collections uploaded so I’ve had to really practice my patience and consistency.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a small, woman-owned business currently based in Colorado Springs, CO. Our catalog has grown over the past year, now offering 20 lash styles, including cruelty-free options. We also have added our very own brand of Latex-Free Lash Glue, eyelash applicators, eyelash curlers, trimming scissors, LED lash cases, and pocket-sized mirrors all to our site within the last two months. Our Mink collections are available for purchase on Walmart.com, and we’re working hard on getting all of the products added to Walmart as well.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Happiness for me looks like accomplishing personal goals, spending quality time with my family and friends, enjoying the outdoors, staying active, praying and meditating, exploring and trying new things, and cooking. I’m a huge FOODIE!
