Meet Marissa Daniel of Broken into Beautiful Talk Show in Roswell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marissa Daniel.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My name is Marissa L. Daniel but I am known as Marvelous Marissa. I am the Executive Producer/Host of Broken into Beautiful that airs on WATC TV 57 and People TV here in Atlanta, Georgia. My show is centered on ministry and I interview and speak with people who share their personal testimonies on how God blossomed them from being Broken into Beautiful. I had the pleasure of interviewing WSB’s TV retired news anchor/reporter Monica Pearson, Kiana Dancie from Sister Circle and other amazing guests who shared how they overcame domestic violence, being homeless and rape to name a few.

I started this show in August 2017 when the Station Manager at WATC gave me my first Yes. This show has been such an inspiration that I was awarded the Girl Power Award from the 2018 Girl Power NOW Conference. Not to mention, I am a regular TV host for Atlanta Live on WATC TV 57. I am also a former gospel radio host for IBNX Radio Network. My radio show, “The Praise in You,” was voted one of the network top three shows.

I recently just published my first book entitled, “From Brokenness to Marvelous.” This book is based on my life’s experiences as a broken little girl, my college struggles and life after college. I am often booked for speaking and hosting engagements. I was honored to be selected as the Mistress of Ceremony for the Lupus Foundation of America Gala 2019 and the Mistress of Ceremony for the Walk to end Lupus Ceremony 2020.

I am a member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and I am a judge for the 2020 Southeast Emmy Awards. My alma mata, Clark Atlanta University, recognized me as a Distinguished Alumni in 2017. God has blessed me tremendously and I am grateful for where I am today and all that he has done for me.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My journey has not been easy but with God, all things are possible. I attended Clark Atlanta University and I graduated with my undergraduate degree in Mass Media Arts with a concentration in radio/TV/film in 2012. I struggled getting a job in radio and television. I interned at WSB, FOX 5 Atlanta, and WISN Channel 12 News in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (my hometown). I was often overlooked, rejected and doors were shut in my face numerous of times. I once thought that God forgot all about me and I struggled so much that I gave up on my dreams and pursued a career in Property Management from 2013-2019.

My Pastor, Sheldon Pritchard, gave me the opportunity the recite the prayer room announcements on WATC representing my church home, Beyond the Veil Ministries in Fayetteville, GA. I consistently recited the prayer room announcements every month on WATC and that is when God told me to dream again and step out on faith. God gave me the title, Broken into Beautiful because I have experienced so many broken and devastating moments in my life. God has blossomed me from a broken little girl into a marvelous woman of God.

Please tell us about Broken into Beautiful Talk Show.
Broken into Beautiful is a half an hour show that allows people to come and share their personal testimonies on WATC and People TV.  They share how God has blossomed them from being broken into being absolutely beautiful.  I have interviewed guests who shared how they overcame being raped, molested, homeless, abused and some spoke about the importance of forgiveness. I had the honor of interviewing WSB’s retired reporter/anchor Monica Pearson and Kiana Danice from Sister Circle just to name a few. This show has become such an inspiration that I received the Girl Power Award from the 2018 NOW Conference and my alma mata, Clark Atlanta University, recognized me as a Distinguished Alumni.  I am blessed and grateful to receive sponsorships from major companies and people all over to help keep this inspiring show on television.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
The only thing I would have done differently is in my waiting season. I would have better prepared myself for where I am today. Constantly practicing in the mirror and even staying involved in the industry instead of completely giving up. I thank God for giving me another opportunity to do what I love to do.
