Thanks for sharing your story with us Marq. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well, a blessing, planning, and timing got me to where I am today. I was working for a company for over 8 years and was fired on my birthday 2years ago. I had some money saved from doing mobile detailing on the side and was looking for a building to do detailing, car washes, and sell my premium blend coffee beans and beef hot dogs in the lobby.
While searching for a commercial property – the building that I had drawn on a note pad in 2007 showing all what I would do if “I” had it was listed as available for rent. I acquired the building immediately and have been in business for 18 months now. Maintaining a 5-star rating on Google and Yelp. I’m a one-man band selling the best tasting coffee in Marietta GA, the freshest non-dairy smoothies, and Vienna Beef Chicago Style Hot Dogs.
There’s a lot of details missing to really amplify the blessing, but I think we’ll have to wait for the book. 🙂
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No smooth road at all. I started the business with the hours of 7a-7p, but I would be here all day for months with no foot traffic. No one would stop-they would look, but they wouldn’t stop. I promoted, advertised, show cased my coffee at office buildings, and local gyms aggressively. Started to get a little traffic after several months, but then appliances started to fail and machines needed repairs and sometimes replaced. By the time I started to get more traffic the pandemic hit.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Jacobs Java Cafe – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I’m most proud as a company is maintaining a 5 star rating on Google and Yelp for over a year. I’m a one-man band selling the best tasting coffee in Marietta Ga, the freshest non-dairy smoothies, and Vienna Beef Chicago Style Hot Dogs. What sets me apart from others is I carry premium products, everything is made fresh to order, I exercise and provide phenomenal customer service. I am branding my own coffee beans. I have a secrete mixed blend coffee bean assortment. My smoothies are pureed fruit no added sugar and non-dairy. I also sell Chicago Style Hot Dogs and Italian Beefs. Those are signature sandwiches inspired by my home town.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My future plans are to start up my own chain of drive thru cafe’s with my own concept in Atlanta, Spokane, WA, and Chicago
