Meet Marques Womack of Womack Productions in East Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marques Womack.

Marques, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Ever since I was six, I have had a desire to be a filmmaker. I took my first editing course as a part of an after-school program in the 7th grade while I was in Virginia. I eventually obtained editing software on my home pc and practiced periodically. Fast forward to my college days, where I deeply studied film and picked up my first dslr camera. As I practiced the art of photography I used the elements of taking a good photo into the course of framing and shooting good videos. As the skill grew, I decided to start a company that not only showcase what I can do but help turn everybody’s dream into a reality.

By June of 2020 I am a graduate of Clark Atlanta university, with BA in mass media arts, with a concentration in television and film. I have worked in multiple podcasts, web series, tv shows, short films, films, music videos, corporate videos and more. It was a long journey to come this far and it’s still a long road to the finish line but all of the rejections, missed opportunities, and let downs played a big factor in how I was able to make it where I am today.

Has it been a smooth road?
Early in my journey, I was faced with competition that was way out of my league. As I grew, I was able to do more but my finances were not great so my equipment was dated. And no matter how well I was at the craft certain opportunities wanted newer gear in order to consider me for opportunities such as a camera man or a photographer. Early on, more often than not i was overlooked for many opportunities. Told I wasn’t good enough and completely shot down.

We’d love to hear more about the company.
Womack Productions is a multi-media company. While it’s still in its early stages it has already produced a good number of films, shows, and music videos. It also helps with content promoting and branding. My most favorable project to come from this production thus far is upcoming television show House of Hope, which is an independent made black sitcom, set to release early next year. What other companies say they won’t do, where I come in to say I can and will. I’m a firm believer that there is a space to make everybody’s idea a reality, whether it’s interpreted through music, movies or even photos, we have you covered at Womack Productions.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
As this company continues to grow, it will eventually spawn many subsidiaries which will each branch out and work towards building a studio in as many cities as possible all over the country the over the world. Within five years this company should have a major studio in the city of Atlanta, between then and 10 years it should have a studio in three other cities around the United States, and there will be hundreds of completed quality projects collectively.
