Meet Martin Korec

Today we’d like to introduce you to Martin Korec.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I draw. Almost all the time, from childhood. In the years when I was 19-25 I stopped drawing. The drawings brought me back to the pictures of Alphonse Mucha and Jahn Dyer Baizley.

Now I draw, mainly illustrations for musical events, bands, literary magazines and I also have illustrations for the book.

Please tell us about your art.
I use a traditional ink pen, technical pen and watercolor colors combined with graphic programs to create richly detailed illustrations. Based on the influence of illustrators and engravers such as Doré, Mucha, Baizley, Beckett, along with the decorative taste of Art Nouveau and symbolism, I create my own organic world, which is expanding with every new piece of work.

As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
I find it a success when people like my work. Because my illustrations look like Alphonse Mucha, that’s the intention, I appreciate everyone who likes my work.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
People can see my work on the Internet: www.instagram.com/m_thaw_k and www.behance.net/m_thaw_k or in the book Where to Where I Come … / The Gift of Waking … Partonym magazine on posters, album covers and band shirts: Decultivate, Laundered Syrup, Otra Vez.
