Meet Martin Nash of Martin Nash in Buckhead and Peachtree Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Martin Nash.

Martin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Born in London to a British father and German mother, I was instilled with an appreciative aesthetic while being raised in Atlanta. I hold an Interior Design degree from the Art Institute of Atlanta, and after working for premier ADAC showrooms for 16 years, I launched the Martin Nash showroom in May 2013 along with best friend and business partner, designer Dee Simmons.

The eclectic mix of furniture, lighting and curated objects creates a vibe that is “Urban, Organic and Groovy!” My vision to bring a new, fresh energy to ADAC is highlighted by a twenty foot “Living Wall” which lights up the main ADAC atrium. Originally a Graffiti mural depicting the Atlanta cityscape, the most recent installation is a “Language” installation by artist, Esteban Patino, who has two permanent pieces at the High Museum of Art. These bold statements of unexpected and revolutionary design changed the dynamics of ADAC and the surrounding design community.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Our vision, for the most part, was well received. Many of the more modern to transitional designers felt we were exactly what ADAC needed. We tried to bring a little New York and L.A. to Atlanta and provide a different approach to showroom merchandising and display. The struggle was getting the traditional designer in since we were so different. Our original Graffiti mural scared some people who would say “I’m afraid to go in that showroom”. The urban grittiness wasn’t for everyone.

Please tell us about Martin Nash.
We are known for having unique and special pieces, where everything feels carefully edited. The art in the showroom is a big part of what we do. I wanted to build a reputation for having a gallery and museum quality artwork with some soul.
