Meet Mason Hollandbeck of Airbrush by Mason & Bridal Beauty Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mason Hollandbeck.

Mason use to work in TV and Film for many years and worked with different modeling companies on the side teaching proper application of makeup and hair choices for various shows. He was asked once while working with an agency to do one of their models and it turned out to be none other than Eva Longoria. Ms. Longoria was very impressed with Mason’s technique and how he made her look, that Mason found himself getting invited to hotels for private clients from all walks of the entertainment industry.

He decided that day to turn it into something more than just him working with just those clients. Airbrush by Mason as born, and it quickly took off. While Mason was working teaching in the Georgia schools’ system during the week, at night he was meeting with brides to be and locking in every weekend for the first 4 years of his business. He found that most of the clients he was working with in that part of the business were very unhappy with their planners/day of event planners and the next year Mason spent booking not just his next list of wedding clients for hair and make up for their big day but also found he was their first choice of planner. Mason has been owner and operator since 1999 and the company has grown since then and has been helping those who wish to break into the business learn everything there is to know and many have gone on to open and operate their very own successful business all over the US.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not always been a smooth road. From dealing with product disasters to bridezilla’s who wanted to change everything 20 minutes before their big day. One of the biggest struggles was going halfway around the world and when I landed, my luggage and supplies for the wedding I was doing the next day did not. It had all gone the other way around the world. Lucky, I always keep my brushes in my carry on but I quickly had to find a store that would still provide the level of service I prided myself on for my clients.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Airbrush by Mason & Bridal Beauty Boutique story. Tell us more about the business.
Our company has a lot of working parts to it since it humble beginnings. Now as we have grown we provide, airbrush makeup application and design, hair design, wedding day makeup & hair, event planning, event consultation, classes for upcoming artists, and film and TV makeup application. We are most proud of the fact that we are a family and no one is above the other in our company. Everyone works as if they are the owner themselves and it creates a much stronger sense of pride in their work. What sets us apart from everyone else…We go to our clients. We are 100% mobile. Which they love.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t think luck had anything to do with it. I believe it all had to do with taking pride in my work and someone else recognizing that and giving me the opportunity to showcase it at the right time.
