Meet Matthew Crews of georgiaemsacademy.com

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Crews.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have been a paramedic since 1997 and worked for several private ambulance services and DeKalb EMS before it was ultimately done away with. During that time I trained new personnel and began my teaching career at DeKalb Tech. I started my own business in 2007 and teach all levels of EMS provider to include Paramedic in an online program I created. We focus on aggressive training when we meet students every week.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Understanding the needs of the EMS community can be as difficult as trying to meet those needs. Despite all the years of continuous operation, the ambulance service or training has not seemed to evolve with the changing times. My programs are unique in that they address the challenges of the EMS community and are always delivered utilizing the most efficient practices possible. The link in all of our programs is the aggressive hands-on training we provide. I believe we are doing the kind of training the public would envision all EMS personnel would receive.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about georgiaemsacademy.com – what should we know?
We are known for providing continuing education to EMS providers in Georgia. The training is always comprehensive enough to meet any requirements yet flexible enough to allow students to engage the training in a way that works for their schedule. I’d like to think that we are also known for providing very competent people to the ambulance industry.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Our Medical Director, Dr. Stephen Holbrook has always been there to support the sometimes difficult work we do. There are many topics in EMS education that really never saw the development that was necessary for it all to make sense. We have been supported by numerous Ambulance Services and Fire Departments over the years. There are a lot of people who believe in what we do.
