Meet Mecca Robinson of The Bella Agency in South

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mecca Robinson.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I moved to Atlanta in 2013 to attend college from Middletown, Delaware. I started at Clark Atlanta University but transferred to Georgia State University after my first year. I was always stuck on being a Pediatric Neurologist but to be honest I completely suck at Mathematics. As I was trying to decide a major[I was Undeclared for about two years] all I could think of were the times as a youth I would attend every Scream Tour Concert in Philly. I never wanted to be a “celebrity” but I was always interested in the behind the scene of tours, so there is was…I majored in Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations with a minor in Entertainment Media Management.

During my junior year at Georgia State, I volunteered at A3C Hip Hop Festival and Conference and that’s how my story begins. I have held multiple positions with A3C from Conference Coordinator to now the Operations and Talent Manager. During my time with A3C I started to build a network to help develop my own company. Keyword: Build. The word build is essential in this line of work. It’s important to build a team of people with the same drive and passion that you have.

In November of 2016, I lost my grandmother who was my best friend. She was the person that I would call and tell my biggest accomplishments to and she would just smile and congratulate me every time. I decided to use a portion of the money that she left to me and create The Bella Agency, her name was Annabelle, my company is named after her.

In 2018, I official launched The Bella Agency. Currently, I am working with an indie artist, Zenden Lavon, who is super dope and is based in LA(@zendenlavon). I look forward to welcoming more indie artists and creatives to The Bella Agency.

Lastly, one thing that I never leave without saying is that God’s Grace is what keeps me going and by His Grace and my Faith I will keep elevating.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road in the entertainment industry is never smooth. It comes with frustration, a lot of no’s, sleepless nights and disappointments but as a believer in Christ Jesus and his word, “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” – Psalm 30:5. In my signature on my emails, I have a quote that states, “The answer no is a reason for you to go harder towards your dreams”. I like to tell people all the time to never give up and to be persistent. I remember when I worked for Marriott International for three years during college and a little after I would be sitting at my desk applying for every job at multiple labels, agencies, etc. I was frustrated; I had experience but no one wanted to give me a shot. So you know what I did? Start my own agency. Give yourself a chance. Hire yourself.

The Bella Agency – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Bella Agency represents multiple companies and individuals in the Entertainment Industry. Whether it’s an up and coming indie artist or a record label that is seeking help with the development of their operations, business plans or project management, The Bella Agency handles it all. The Bella Agency also prides it selves on building strong relationships with every client.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment of my career so far would have to be the event that I recently did, which was collaborating with MCM x Hot 107.9 for an Invite- Only Private Shopping Event during Birthday Bash Weekend here in Atlanta. The event allowed industry execs, artists and creatives to come together in a setting to mix and mingle that didn’t feel to “corporate”. Special guest such as: Misa Hylton, Lil Mo, Marlo Hampton, Drummaboy Fresh, Shod Santiago and more were in attendance.
