Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Hosfeld
Hi Megan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Growing up, my best friend’s mom was an interior designer, and from the time I was six years old, I was immersed in that world. Whether it was learning to sew draperies and pillows or tagging along on installs, I was fascinated by the process of transforming spaces. I worked closely with her until she moved away when I was 16, but at the time, I never considered interior design as a career path for myself.
After high school, I explored different fields, from cosmetology to car sales, but nothing felt quite right. Meanwhile, family and friends constantly turned to me for design advice, telling me I had a natural eye for it. That was the turning point—I realized that interior design wasn’t just something I enjoyed; it was something I wanted to pursue professionally.
I took the leap and enrolled in school, where I dedicated myself to learning the craft. While studying, I landed a role as a design assistant at an interior design firm, which allowed me to start honing my skills in a real-world setting. From there, I transitioned into closet design, which deepened my understanding of space planning and functionality. Those experiences ultimately led me to where I am today—as the Design Manager for Bradford Custom Homes and Remodeling, where I get to bring clients’ visions to life every day.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to where I am today has been anything but smooth, but every detour taught me something valuable. After high school, I wasn’t entirely sure what I wanted to do, but I knew I was creative and had a passion for aesthetics. That led me to move to Nashville to pursue a career in makeup artistry. While I loved the artistic side of it, I quickly realized it wasn’t the right long-term path for me. So, I moved back home and found myself searching again.
That search led me to car sales—a completely different world but one that taught me a lot about working with people, understanding their needs, and closing deals. While it wasn’t my passion, the experience gave me confidence, sharpened my communication skills, and made me comfortable navigating high-stakes decisions—something that has been incredibly valuable in my design career.
Despite trying different paths, one thing remained constant—people always turned to me for design advice. Friends and family constantly told me I had a great eye, and I started to realize that interior design wasn’t just something I enjoyed; it was what I was meant to do. That’s when I made the decision to fully commit to making it my career.
From there, I went to school, took on a design assistant role, then transitioned into closet design, where I learned a lot about space planning and functionality. Each step built upon the last, leading me to where I am today as the Design Manager for Bradford Custom Homes and Remodeling. Looking back, every challenge—from moving to a new city, switching careers, and facing uncertainty—helped shape the designer and professional I am now. The road hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As the Design Manager for Bradford Custom Homes and Remodeling, I play a key role in bringing our clients’ visions to life. I work closely with homeowners to guide them through the design process, helping them make selections that balance aesthetics, functionality, and personal style. Whether it’s a new construction project or a remodel, my goal is always to create spaces that feel both intentional and timeless.
I specialize in high-end residential design, with a focus on custom homes and renovations. I have a deep understanding of space planning, material selections, and how to blend beauty with practicality—especially in kitchens, bathrooms, and custom storage solutions. I’m also well-versed in design software like SketchUp and ClosetPro, which allows me to provide clients with clear visuals before the work even begins.
What sets me apart is my ability to truly connect with clients and make the process feel seamless. I understand that building or remodeling a home can be overwhelming, and I pride myself on making it an enjoyable, stress-free experience. My background in sales, combined with my eye for design, allows me to communicate effectively and help clients make confident decisions.
One of the things I’m most proud of is seeing how my designs positively impact people’s lives. A home is more than just a space—it’s where memories are made. Knowing that I’ve helped create a place where families will gather, grow, and feel at home is incredibly rewarding.
At the end of the day, what drives me is the ability to take a blank slate and turn it into something that reflects my clients’ dreams. Every project is different, and that’s what makes this career so exciting.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
As for the future, I’m always looking for ways to grow, both creatively and professionally. I love working in custom homebuilding and remodeling, and I hope to continue expanding my expertise, taking on more complex projects, and finding new ways to push the boundaries of design. At the end of the day, my goal is simple: to create spaces that people love coming home to.
