Sponsored Shoutout: Check out conversations with film director Axel Axe.
Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Myrie.
Megan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always been a creative person, participating in many creative outlets such as choir, dance, poetry, etc. However, I was introduced to Graphic Design in my sophomore year of high school and developed a passion for it. This passion led me to getting a BFA in graphic design and starting my own design company, Megagraphics Design LLC (MGD LLC). Aside from design, I am also an artist and have created an album titled “c y c l e s” and several music videos to accompany the project.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not! COVID gave me the space to start my own company, but it has also held me back from connecting with people, which made acquiring clients a bit difficult. I am currently in the process of rebuilding MGD LLC. For my artistry though, I have had a lot of success. The main issue was, again, my caution when it came to being around people, but performing and exposure are my main focuses for my artistry moving forward.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am both a designer and artist.
As a designer, I own my own company, Megagraphics Design LLC, through which I create brands and branding materials for other creatives.
As an artist, I mainly focus on music, but also explore modeling and dance as well. I currently have an album out and several supporting videos.
I believe being involved in both design and art sets me apart. Because of design, I get to be my own creative director for my artistry which leads to great videos, flyers, social media content, etc. However, I also believe my artistry plays a role in how I design and the audience I want to reach as a designer.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I’ve learned to trust in God more. I’ve learned that I’ve got to be flexible. I’ve learned more about myself in regard to who I am and who I want to be.
