Today we’d like to introduce you to Mello Cool AF.
Mello Cool AF born Tatyana Echols is the best slept-on female artist to hit the scene. Her delivery is raw, uncut, gritty, and bodacious. She is not afraid to get all in your face with lyrics that are tenacious and audacious.
Rising in one of Atlanta’s most notorious housing projects, Capitol Homes, Mello looked for inspiration from artists like T.I, Biggie, and Young Jeezy to cope with the everyday struggles that life brought her way. Later moving to East Atlanta well, she rose. She quickly gravitated to the sounds of the street-savvy Gucci Mane, an East Atlanta legend. She began writing music to instrumentals and recording them on her computer. She then teamed up with a few friends and they recorded “ I Know U Aint Buckin.” under the name Lady Murk Squad.
After graduating, Mello became a teacher utilizing her musical talents to educate children. She started a mentoring program in which she mentored in a total of 13 children. She also coached youth sporting teams at a few recreation centers in the metro Atlanta area.
In 2016 she decided she was ready to take a leap and give the music world a taste of what Ole Mello had to offer the industry. She began working with GMP Champion and the two of them created and released her first single, “Beastmode,” in 2018. Quickly gaining the attention of ATL’s nightlife, Her career was on the rise. Her ambition and hustle landed her the opportunity to compete in Raleigh, NC for the Next to rising Tour. Since then, she has to open up for several major mainstream artists like Dj Unk, Stuey Rock, and Moneybagg Yo, just to name a few.
Other accolades included performing for industry moguls and producers like DJ Scream and DJ Holiday, studio sessions with CME The Label, and meeting with Streetz 94.5 DJ Blu. She was nominated for Best Slept on Female Rapper at the Atlanta Hip Hop and Fashion Awards and Female Indie Artist of Year at the I Sign Myself Awards.
Currently, Mello is working on her next project. She also has her own radio show, Unleashed on Air, that broadcast nationally every Saturday from 6 pm to 8 pm via On Blast Radio. She is also a COO of On Blast Radio, a station that solely provides an affordable platform for independent artists and small businesses. With her growing status, she is also providing a platform for other independents to grow, prosper and display their dreams and works.
Has it been a smooth road?
The rode has been like a rollercoaster, with more highs than lows. I struggled with not having the proper tools to carry me and my talent from a lack of management to losing my drive and motivation because I felt like no one believed in me. But I prayed one night and cried and God told me to keep pushing that my time was coming but I needed to allow him to remove and replace. Once I allowed that to happen, the blessings began coming in abundance,

Currently, I’m one of Atlanta’s Premier female hip-hop artists. Recently becoming a partner/COO of On Blast Radio. I think my proudest moments were when my parents both expressed their support in abundance. I feel like my talents, drive, determination and personality set me apart from others. No matter what comes my way, I remain humble, steadfast and focus on the goal now. I also now have a team of goal-oriented individuals who all work in cohesiveness and sync to make sure we ALL accomplish everything.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Atlanta is the MECCA of HIP HOP, music in general. I feel like I’m in the perfect place to began my legacy. Someone just getting started, I would encourage them to first check their FAITH at the door because if you don’t believe, you won’t be able to conquer anything. A No does not mean STOP, It means to continue to push the envelope. I would also tell them to make sure they are surrounding themselves with like-minded individuals. You want to be a millionaire, hang with millionaires!
