Today we’d like to introduce you to Melody Calvert.
Melody, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always known a lot of people but I realized it was finally time to use my resources. I started my podcast after going on a tour show with Lil Baby. I always knew I wanted to do something industry related but that really gave me the push I needed.
As far as my line of sweat suits that’s coming out, my father is the inspiration behind Coyote. I love getting dressed I love fashion.
Has it been a smooth road?
In the beginning I had every issue you could imagine. I could not pick a cohost and I spent so much money on sound equipment. Nothing worth having is easy to get so I kept going and now I am up and running, I’m actually currently looking for a new commercial space for welcome to the Ville.
Coyote wasn’t easy either, between working with my graphic designer on mock ups and trying to pick the perfect color Ways, it was a lot. I think God for my Manufacturer and the rest of my team.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Welcome to the Ville and Coyote Clothing story. Tell us more about the business.
Welcome to The Ville has been my Instagram name since I can remember. People already knew me as that so I knew I had to run with it. Currently I am an influencer and a podcast host but eventually I want my platform to be able to compete with Worldstar.
Coyote is a high-end fashion line. The best cotton, my first line of sweat suits there is nothing that is not embroidered. I definitely wanted it to stand out.
I think what sets me apart from others is that I am not scared of the word no. I don’t abuse my relationships so I don’t ask for a lot. But if I really need something done or I feel I feel like something is worth doing, I will ask anybody. If I met Kim Kardashian tomorrow, I would ask her to come on my podcast. If I met the owner of Gucci, I would ask them to collab with coyote clothing.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next five years I want welcome to the Ville to be a tv show or a radio show. I’m shooting for the stars. Nothing is out of my reach.
In ten years, I want Coyote to have its own warehouse and manufacturing. I want to cut out all middlemen. Amazon inspired me; the owner is going as far as to start a postal service to make sure he gets all his money.
